ISPO and Outdoor Retailer are two major outdoor goods exhibitions in Europe and North America.
This site has been visiting the site almost every year since its inception, and even if you can't visit, I have been using the internet to check the information on the exhibition. It not only gives you a sense of the realism of the world's outdoor scene, from popular works by famous brands to new faces of innovative ideas, items not available in Japan, but also offers an exciting experience where you can directly experience the passion that is put into the product by listening directly from the people in the manufacturer. There is no doubt that such an outdoor exhibition was an important event for outdoor workers around the world.
Unfortunately, this year, both events were held online, so we were unable to actually go there. I also checked out the online exhibits, but it seems that the number of participating brands has also decreased significantly. I was completely depressed, but even though it's online, I was able to discover many attractive new products that shine with innovative ideas and excellent technical capabilities this year, and I once again realized the passion and power of the global outdoor industry, which continues to move forward without causing headwinds.
So this time, I've picked out some new products that I was surprised when I took a peek at two online exhibitions (it's only for the European and North American markets, so it's not available in Japan), so I'll introduce them with a brief explanation.

ISPO & Outdoor Retailer 2021 Winter Featured Items
Ortovox Diract Voice
This year's ISPO Product of the year was awarded the latest beacon from Ortovox, a comprehensive outdoor manufacturer based in Switzerland, focusing on snow sports. The newest thing is the search mode, which uses voice guidance, allowing for faster and more incorrect action at avalanche sites where speed is required for a single second. The compact and sophisticated, easy-to-use switches are also great.

Advenate MyONE
A semi-custom outer jacket from the German outdoor brand Advenate, which was not expected to be released, was a semi-custom outer jacket. Not only the color and pattern, but also the presence or absence of pockets, length, slim or loose fit, etc. are freely available. The fabric is made of thick Schoeller, which is waterproof, windproof, and breathable, and is also Bluesign certified using eco-friendly European materials.

CEBE VERSATILE HELMET
The latest helmets from CEBE, a French snow sports gear brand, use an ultra vent system that lifts the front to ensure optimal airflow is always possible. If you can achieve comfortable ventilation in your head even when hiking, it will be a great help, as you won't have to attach and remove it from your backpack every time. Moreover, it has been certified for safety in both skiing and mountain climbing (EN1077 & EN12492). I look forward to this!

Earlybird skis CHICKADEE
In any case, there are many new products that continue to be eco-friendly and sustainable. This is a seemingly ordinary touring ski with a 90 mm center width, combining classic camber with tip and tail locker, but it is said to be manufactured in 100% carbon neutral, made from sustainable raw materials. It is the world's first circular economy ski, made up of environmentally friendly bio-based or recycled raw materials and ski waxes that do not contain harmful fluorine.

Elan Voyager
Just as you can see, it's a foldable all-mountain skiing. I have seen small manufacturers make these folding skis several times before, but this new step is being created by a prestigious ski brand that boasts a tradition of ski making for over 70 years. With this, you can throw it in without worrying about a dedicated carrier for your car, and it also has a smart structure, easy setting, and reliable ski performance, so you can expect more variations in the backcountry field in the future.

Out Of Electra
Out Of, an emerging goggle manufacturer founded in Italy, is a very interesting brand that aims to create goggles that focus on cutting-edge technology and high quality in every detail. This model, the ISPO GOLD-winning model, "Electra," is the first battery-less electronic goggles ever, allowing you to control the brightness of the lens with electronic control to match the surrounding brightness. Not only is its eccentricity in technology, but it also has high-quality Zeiss brand lenses that naturally offer premium performance such as 100% UV protection, anti-fog treatment, and multi-layer mirror coating, making it seem reliable in terms of practicality.

Mammut Climbax
Mammut reveals many ambitious new works at this exhibition every time, but what caught my eye this time was a wristband-shaped climbing tracker that was worn on both arms. It is said that when combined with a smartphone app, it can record and analyze climbing data. The Mammut Climbax wristband records elevation, hand usage, climbing time, rest time, and more. Other details are still shrouded in mystery, but with the explosive increase in artificial climbing around the world, including sports climbing, this year, which was originally the Olympic debut, it is inevitable that gear will appear to be available for deeper enjoyment.

Haglofs Nordic Expedition Down Jacket
The Nordic Expedition Down Jacket, a flagship model of down jackets released by Hoglovs, an outdoor brand based in Scandinavian countries, has adopted technology that is unparalleled in the world in several respects, and has won the Product of the Year of this year. Made to ensure maximum functionality and comfort even in extreme cold conditions, this outerwear features innovative insulation that combines platinum graphene insulation with goose down, a new type of insulation. The highly functional features that make it safe and comfortable to use in the harsh Arctic mountainous regions, including its completely waterproof structure and a structure that eliminates cold spots, excellent moisture control functions, and belay safety straps will appeal to the hearts of gear lovers.

Salewa Ortles Couloir Boot
SALEWA, which has not been very well known in Japan for some reason, has not been very well known, but has many excellent technical and quality pieces, has won ISPO GOLD this year, and the new product is a high-tech mountain climbing and ice climbing that weighs only 725 grams. As the name suggests, perhaps taken from Mount Orthores in the alpine Alps, it is said to have been created with the idea of tough, technical terrain in the Eastern Alps. The lightweight, durable carbon frame with hinge joints is designed to provide both rigidity and flexibility, providing excellent stability both on walking and climbing. Equipped with a waterproof membrane, warm inner boots and outer gaiters, it is of course not a problem for use in winter mountains. Honestly, I have high expectations.
Samaya ASSAUT2 ULTRA
Since we first met at ISPO two years ago, we have always been paying attention to new products. This simple, single-wall dome-shaped tent is made from carbon poles and two-layer Dyneema® fabric, weighs only 980 grams. At the same time, it supports high specs of 20,000 mm water resistance and 40,000 g/m2/24h breathability, and seems to provide even more comfort in harsh alpine mountains. Personally, I'm only concerned about the durability of carbon poles, but for me, who have not yet encountered a single-wall tent called "This!", I can't take my eyes off it.

Odlo i-Thermic Baselayer
Electric heated goods have been steadily making progress in recent years in the apparel scene for the winter season. Personally, I tried out a variety of gears for the first time this season, and was amazed at how natural it feels and how practical it is. The i-Thermic series of Scandinavian brand Odlo has been at the forefront of the development of battery-powered heat-generating wear in collaboration with wearable thermal technology Clim8® since early on. The new light-weight heat-generating base layer was unveiled this season. It fits comfortably on the skin and provides warmth so that the heating element located on the abdomen, etc. maintains a comfortable temperature while measuring the temperature on the skin and outside. You won't know until you try it out, but as long as you can achieve the comfort and sweat-removal ability as a base layer, it will be a very reliable item for activities in the harsh winter.

Julbo EVAD-1
Julbo, a long-established French eyewear brand with a tradition of over 100 years, is based on the technology and experience it has cultivated over many years, and continues to greet with new technologies, gaining trust from outdoor enthusiasts around the world. The new EVAD-1 is packed with tradition and innovation, and is a connected sports glass with a scouter-like integrated head-up display that will come to mind as the future of glasses not only by Japanese people but also around the world. With a weight of just 35 grams, the highly breathable, dimmable sports glasses display performance data such as pulse, speed, and distance within an athlete's field of vision for up to 12 hours. Of course, measurement data can be recorded in the smartphone app via Bluetooth connection. The future is here.

Greyp Bikes
Another genre that continues to evolve quietly and steadily is the "E-Bike" market. Japan may have certainly spread electric mamachari early on, but it seems that the world is moving forward more and more when it comes to hobbies. from the up-and-coming Croatian E-bike manufacturer Greyp is, in a nutshell, "the world's first fully connected E-mountain bike." In addition to its sophisticated look, it also has a built-in 4G SIM card, allowing you to connect to the internet at all times. It has a video camera on the front and rear, and has built-in GPS, accelerometers, and barometers, and Bluetooth connections, making it a smartphone that looks like a mountain bike. A small trick that allows remote camera control and viewing to prevent theft is also effective. The best part is the battery, and in general situations it seems that it can drive around 100km on a single charge. Amazing in many ways. Winner of the Outdoor Retailer Innovation Award.

IGNIK HEATED SLEEPING BAG LINER
To be honest, I've never needed a sleeping bag liner (inner sheet) until now. But I might want to use this electric liner. Started by a former outdoor brand executive founder with the aim of becoming more sustainable heating and insulation products, IGNIK is not making it a game-changer for sleeping bags with this new electronic heating and heating bag liner. This is the industry's first heater made from highly conductive carbon fibers built into the fabric, and is patent-pending Radiant Carbon Strand (RCS) technology (highly durable, waterproof, machine washable). It's also nice that you can use a mobile battery as a power source. The polyester fabric is 100% recycled fabric certified by Bluesign, and of course the utmost consideration is taken to the environment.
