Do you know about Aeropress, which extracts coffee using air pressure?
Originally developed by AEROBIE, a frisbee manufacturer in 2005, this tool is a slightly unusual coffee extraction tool that extracts coffee by pouring coffee beans and hot water into a large tubular container and pushing it out with air pressure like a syringe. Since its release, it has grown fans all over the world, combining it with its depth of making high-quality coffee easily and quickly, and with its ingenuity, it can be enjoyed in a wide variety of flavors, and now it continues to expand steadily before the world championships where people compete for brewing technology is held.
However, I also tried it a few years ago because of the keywords of coffee and outdoors, but to be honest, I'm not particularly into it. Although I acknowledged the taste and ease of use, I was left feeling like the equipment itself was just too big overall, and it was a bit off the mark for outdoor activities, which are often done by individuals or small groups.
As I was about to go through this, AeroPress has been waiting for this season! It has evolved and has appeared in front of me again. It's called "AeroPress Go." No, this time I was really hooked. After actually using it, it's not only about the appeal of this in itself, but with a little customization, I finally completed my own style of luxurious coffee gear set for solo hiking, so I'll introduce it to you right away.

What is the latest model, the AeroPress Go, which has evolved into a portable shape?
It's even more compact, making it large enough to carry around even when hiking
The original Aeropress size was about a large water bottle for field trips (14 x 11 x 10 cm), and was too large, and there were many unnecessary parts to carry, so it was not something you would want to take out on a hike.
What do you think? This work is made with a clear focus on "carrying" and although the amount can be made at a time has been reduced, it is just the right size (12 x 12 x 9cm) for use and carrying by one or two people. In addition, while eliminating the accessories as much as possible, it has been reborn as a convenient and smart structure, adding a new "mug" to the set (photo below).
All parts included as standard. Lid (lid) from the back left, mixing rod, measuring spoon, mug, plunger, chamber, front row, filter case, filter cap from left
If you store all the tools shown in the photo above and cover them with a pop of red rubber lid, it will be large enough to be less than a statement in your backpack (photo below). Really, I'm glad you did it.
With Aeropress, you can enjoy the "natural flavor of coffee beans" even more.
Of course, if you just drink coffee normally in the mountains, a dripper and filter would be fine. Recently, there are a lot of fashionable and ultra-lightweight drippers sold everywhere, and even though they have actually become more compact, it is true that lighter drippers are still lighter. However, the main reason why I want to go out of my way to bring Aeropress to the mountains and drink coffee is the indescribable flavor.
Unlike drippers and other "weight extraction methods," Aeropress uses air pressure to extract coffee in a short amount of time. This makes it even more prominently appealing to the "natural taste of coffee beans," and is said to be the most appealing thing that attracts many fans.
What I actually like about drinking it is that the coffee extraction time is short, so there is little impurities and sourness, and the taste is refreshing (of course, I think the impression will vary greatly depending on the quality and type of coffee beans). At the same time, the amount produced is also small and is pressured like espresso, giving it a richness (soft bitterness). I honestly don't know if that's not possible with other brewing methods, as the manufacturers claim, but I feel that at least I'm getting closer to the "delicious coffee" I want.
Easy and fast, delicious coffee even outdoors, making stably
Besides its compactness and flavor, another thing you should not miss is its ease.
Those who have searched for "How to make delicious drip coffee," will know, but many people may find it frustrating because there are so many detailed tips to follow, such as the amount of food, steaming, and how to add hot water. That's not a bad idea in itself, but as someone who has publicly declared himself lazy on a daily basis, there's no way it's not annoying.
But Aeropress GO is different. As expected from an outdoors, anyone can easily brew coffee with a delicious, delicious taste, even if the steps are fairly rough. Of course, the world is deep enough to hold a world championship with extraction technology, so no matter how appropriate it is, it does not mean that it will taste the best. I will emphasize that just in case.
How to brew coffee outdoors using Aeropress GO
Now, let's start with setting up coffee using Aeropress GO. Place the paper filter in the filter cap that reaches the tip of the extraction.
The filter cap is set in the outer tube (called a chamber).
Next, quickly add ground coffee beans to the chamber (photo below).
Basically, the beans are ground in the same way as standard drip coffee, "medium-fine to medium-ground" grinding method. The amount can be adjusted to suit your normal coffee. Of course, you can freely create a variety of flavors depending on the amount, grinding amount, water content, and how you brew it, but even if you make it without too much attention, it will turn out to be a decent and delicious coffee, making it perfect for busy outdoor activities and sloth me. First, enjoy yourself slowly and gradually become more interested and relaxed, so you can finally try out various brewing methods.
Shake the chamber lightly to flatten the coffee grounds and place it on the mug (photo below).
Once you're ready, pour in some 80°C hot water (photo below).
There is no need to wait any longer, so mix the hot water and coffee powder for about 10 seconds so that it flows (photo below).
Then, insert the long-awaited inner tube (plunger) from directly above and gently apply pressure (photo below).
As each person takes a spell, they gradually extract the coffee, and when the plunger can no longer be pressed (to the bottom), the extraction is complete.
As you can see, after adding hot water, you'll get a high-quality coffee quickly (photo below). The photo below shows the condition after making it twice in a row because I wanted to drink a lot. The maximum amount of coffee you can make in one brew is around 1.5 cups (237ml).
A time of bliss.
Easy to clean up!
The appeal of this equipment is its ease of cleaning up.
After using, remove the filter cap and press the plunger to pack the used coffee powder and filter together and enter the trash can. I just wipe the coffee powder on the rubber part at the tip of the plunger and there's hardly any other dish to wash.
It's even easier to carry around the mountains, so I customized it to my own coffee set.
This compactness, smartness and deliciousness were certainly real. But I understand that for people who are interested in fast and light weight reduction, they'll want to say, "Even so, it's still just too much and the luggage is huge." I certainly felt it, it was amazing, but it felt like "one more step." But I would like to incorporate this smart, luxurious coffee time into my usual climbing as much as possible...
So I've come up with a variety of ways to customize it from here.
First, shave the tools that can be shave.
Cut not only the powder measuring spoon and mixing stick, but also paper filters (and filter cases). By introducing a "stainless steel filter" that comes from a third party, you can enjoy rich coffee that retains oil while eliminating waste.
For the stainless steel filter, I chose the intuitive "cera COFFEE SS filter for aeropress 13μm" from Amazon. This isn't necessarily the best, and there may still be a bit more improvement here.
Next is the mug. The mug has been added as a new set this time, but since it is made of resin, it cannot be heated. This requires a separate cooker to boil water, which inevitably leads to a large amount of luggage.
This mug has been newly set, but if you can replace it with a metal mug that can also boil water, it will become a lean kitchen set that can be used as a cooker for boiling water in one unit or as a container for receiving the extracted coffee.
However, the mag to fit there must be a vessel of size that can be "a perfect inner diameter that allows the chamber to be raised on the mug to extract coffee" and that allows the chamber to be fitted inside and the lid can be covered and fixed (packed).
For example, a mug (cooker) with an inner diameter too large cannot be used for aeropressing (photo below).
The photo shows TOAKS titanium cucker 750ml.
Also, even if the inner diameter is just right, a mag that is too shallow (although it is not impossible) does not fit slightly (although it is not impossible) and is not very good (photo below).
The photo shows Snow Peak's titanium single mug 450.
Is there a mug with an inner diameter that is just the right size and not too shallow? When I searched for every drawer, I found that one of the unpopular tools that had hardly ever appeared on site. That was a surprising Montbell Titanium Cup 600 (photo below). The inner diameter is just right so that the chamber can get caught, and the bottom depth is enough for the parts to fit in perfectly. Until now, he had been forced to a place that was not exposed to sunlight for a long time by his quirky, long, slender silhouette, but the moment he suddenly rose to the stage, he was moved to tears.
Put each part together, and in the remaining space inside the tube, put TOAKS titanium folding spoke
Finally, place them a 600 titanium cup and cover the lid from above for a stunning, perfect fit. This allows you to have a wasteful kitchen equipment that can be used for eating, without having to carry an extra mug or something to drink the aero press.
