This was a while ago, but this year's Golden Week was different from usual, as I spent it relaxing with my family. We couldn't go out and have fun anywhere, so we went to Iiyama, where the Outdoor Gearzine office is located, mowed the weeds in the garden, walked around the house, and admired the rapeseed flower fields that spread all around. Speaking of food, it was warm for the first time in a while, so we had a barbecue in the garden, grilling meat and vegetables
Since my child was born, my family has been going camping more often, but to be honest, I've been feeling a bit tired of the taste of barbecue. Being a lazy person, the only thing I can think of to do is change the brand of yakiniku sauce we use, but then this spring, a new flavor, " Fista Outside Herb Spice ," came out, and it has revolutionized not only our stale barbecues, but also our dining table.

What is Fista Outside Herb Spice?
In short, it's a professionally made, authentic
The project was undertaken by Ken Tanaka, a pioneer of camping culture and expert on outdoor activities who led the outdoor boom of the past, and GABAN, a spice manufacturer that handles a wide variety of spices popular around the world, including black pepper
The stylish new seasoning born from this powerful collaboration is described as "an authentic outdoor spice made from a carefully selected mix of 14 spices that bring out the flavor of the ingredients, and is designed to harmonize with the smoky flavor that is the true joy of campfire cooking."
The specific names of the herbs are not listed, so I'll have to guess based on the ingredients
Of course there's salt and pepper, but also garlic, chili peppers, onions, parsley, oregano, tangerine peel, coriander, ginger, celery, basil, paprika, rosemary...if you count them all, there are more than 14 different types!
This is definitely delicious even before I eat it
It's true that there has been an increase in seasonings that combine not only salt and pepper but also several herbs and spices, so much so that "crazy salt"-type products have become commonplace in supermarkets recently. And I've never tried any of those seasonings and found them to be bad. If that's the case, there's no way this one can be bad either. From my own perspective, I can already tell it's " definitely delicious even before I eat it ."
And then we tried it
So, around this Golden Week holiday, I tried sprinkling it on a variety of dishes. First, I tried sprinkling it on the most basic of basics: meat at a barbecue
Crazy Salt-style herb salt is, after all, just "salt," so the taste is quite "SHIO"-based and quite salty
However, even though I sprinkled the outside herb spices quite thickly to check the taste, they were not at all "salty" as I expected. Not only that, but the saltiness was softer and deeper than I expected. And the variety of textures created by intentionally scattering the grains was also enjoyable.
Next up was grilled chicken thigh skewers. Huff huff, delicious
It's also great with vegetables. We grilled some locally sourced ghost shiitake mushrooms and sprinkled them on top. It's just irresistible
In the end, it wasn't a matter of obligation, I just couldn't stop. I tried pouring it over a variety of things, and the deep flavor of the blended ingredients matched everything
Not just for barbecues, but also great for home use
It would be a shame to use it only for barbecues. I continued to use it in cooking at home. I realized that while it goes well with barbecues, it also pairs even better with potato dishes and seafood dishes. Of course, those dishes have a standard flavor and are delicious on their own, but sprinkling it on German potatoes or garlic shrimp adds a richer, fuller flavor to the usual dishes
So please give it a try
I'm not a gourmet or anything, but even someone as lazy as me can easily enjoy authentic gourmet flavors! If you're looking for a little extra flair for your usual camping trips, or if you're tired of the simple taste of salt and pepper in your everyday seasonings, why not give it a try?
