"ISPO MUNICH 2019" Report #2 Introducing the most popular gear we encountered at Europe's largest outdoor and sports goods exhibition [Outdoor lifestyle]

A special feature on hot and gear that I saw at ISPO MUNICH 2019, Europe's largest comprehensive sports goods exhibition. The second installment will introduce outdoor, camping and lifestyle brands and items!

Just to be careful, as always: The products introduced below are merely a place for product launches aimed at the European market, and are posted based on local coverage permission. Please note that the release here in Japan is completely unrelated

Popular outdoor and lifestyle items discovered at ISPO

THE NORTH FACE Future Light

Those with fast ears may already have caught it. Shortly after the exhibition began, THE NORTH FACE booth was making a massive announcement of its own unique membrane (waterproof and breathable membrane) that would be newly launched this winter, as well as a hard shell product that uses it. It's called "Future Light." Unlike Gore-Tex-like membranes, this membrane is made of fibers that are sprayed and stacked at the nano-level to form a sheet, and has gaps that allow air to pass through without passing through water. A hard shell that can be worn forever, whether it's hot or cold. Furthermore, it is thinner than before and can be used with a variety of fabrics, which could further expand the possibilities of waterproof products. I tried out a new jacket locally, and it was certainly thin and supple, as if it were a hard shell. Moreover, the lining has a smooth texture and is extremely comfortable to wear, making it a perfect first impression.

It's still unknown whether it's a performance-wise one, but from what I'm saying, it's definitely a new material that gives you high hopes for. We can't take our eyes off Gore-Tex's stronghold gradually falls apart again.

HOUDINI Power Air Houdi

The outdoor industry is undergoing a variety of areas where "renewals to materials that are environmentally friendly even with the same performance," but this year, new eco-friendly and high-tech materials are now available. Polartec's Power Air is the latest in fleece, providing the same or even greater insulation as traditional fleece, while reducing the fall of microfiber, a fine chemical fiber scrap, from falling out. It is not seen much in Japan yet, but in Europe the issue of the environmental impact of the accumulation of "microplastics" on the environment is currently a hot topic. The environment is important, but the sexiness of the clothes is also important. In that sense, Houdini still makes good products that balance these things together.

MAMMUT Trion Spine 50

There are still new ideas. Mammut's new backpack this season is a new trekking backpack with a new idea that combines the shoulder and waist harness with the movement of the body axis, making it less likely to cause the center of gravity to shaking. When I tried it, it gave me a nice fit that I had never experienced before. I think I'll be able to experience this soon in Japan. fun.

Gruezi Bag Biopod DownWool Nature

Gruezi Bag, a brand you've never heard of before in Japan, is a small German sleeping bag manufacturer. This year's product of the year, this item is an environmentally friendly sleeping bag made from 100% natural materials, ranging from fabrics, padding and buttons. DownWool, a unique hybrid insulation made from 70% down and 30% wool, is highly comfortable and has ample performance. Even if you take into account the fact that it is an exhibition in its home country, it's amazing.

SAMAYA

A young French ultralight tent brand. It is an incredibly ultra-lightweight and packable design that is 850g for 2.5 people, and is frameless and self-supporting (inflatable type). The fabric is a single layer tent with a water pressure resistance of 20,000mm and a breathability of 40,000g/mm/24h. Plus, it can be used in four seasons. They say they have actually conducted tests on Chamonix and other places, so I can only say that this is dangerous.

SONY Triporous

It is one of the few Japanese companies, but this year Sony exhibited. What's more, the product is neither a headphone nor a smartwatch. Porous carbon materials derived from rice husks, developed by Sony, have better adsorption functions than regular carbon (so-called charcoal), and are said to have natural deodorizing and deodorizing effects. This makes you hope that the fibers mixed with this will add new functions. A few years from now, it will be hot if new outdoor wear using this material appears.

ORTLIEB Atrack ST 34

For people who are solely interested in mountains, good items born from other activities often exploit blind spots, and are extremely useful for learning. This time, this is the new ORTLIEB backpack from Germany, which has expanded from cycling to outdoor and travelling. Not only can it be used as a backpack with a sturdy back and harness that can be used for hiking, but it can also be used as a travel bag that can be easily packed with vertical zippers from the back, and the waterproof design protects your luggage. There's no more on my journey.

7SPHERE HYDRO_BOT Jacket

It was released last year, but is even closer to practical use: waterproof and breathable outerwear. What's amazing about this is that the electronically controlled HYDRO_BOT membrane can expel moisture inside the clothing much more efficiently than typical waterproof and breathable materials. From what I've heard, it's definitely a groundbreaking thing, but I can't imagine how effective it will really be for "actual actions." If it wasn't comfortable to wear, it would be counterproductive. In any case, it's certainly a dangerous technique.

Patagonia Macro Puff hoody

A new lineup has been added from Patagonia's down-like, ultra-lightweight fiber padding and Micro Puff, which debuted exactly two years ago. It's called "Macro Puff." As you can imagine from the name, this model has a richer filling that gives it a more heat retention and a fluffy feel. I've felt that the heat retention was a bit lacking, so personally, there's a lot of good news. Of course, the lightweight and packable features of the past have been carried over, making it easier to use as a higher-performance belay parka in full-scale winter mountains.

DAIWA Jacquard Rain Jacket

Daiwa, a Japanese fishing gear manufacturer, has actually been participating in ISPO for quite some time now and has been making high-performance outdoor products. This year, he finally won an award at ISPO for his rain jacket, which simultaneously achieves durability, lightness and design thanks to the technology that seamlessly connects fabrics with different woven fabrics. I checked out other products at the Daiwa booth again, but to be honest, it's not funny even if they're sold at outdoor specialty stores. I'm sure I'll be covering it on the website in the future.

Smacilcle S1

It seemed like it was a hot topic at the CES home appliance fair, and I test-driven an ultra-small folding electric bike that would fit in a backpack. At first, you may be confused by the feeling of braking, but you will quickly get used to it, and it has a top speed of about 20km/h and a range of about 20km, making it extremely practical. In a small Japan, it's far more realistic than Segway. I hope that this will be possible in Japan too!

TriEye

For the Dragon Ball generation, being a scouter is a dream. There's something unconditionally squealing there. The TriEye, the gold-winning cycling sunglasses, has a rear view monitor that allows you to see the rear, rather than the so-called cycle meter. I see, this is a few smarter than the rearview mirror or rear camera on the steering wheel.

QOOL QOOL Box

Made in Germany cooler box that won gold at this ISPO. It has a rugged and modest look, but its insulation performance is incredible. The vacuum insulation panels, which are placed all over the surface and are also used in spacecrafts, have 10 times more insulation than conventional insulation materials. For example, it is said that this allows you to keep up to 40 cans of beer cooled for five days. Of course, there is no need to help with electricity or anything like that.

KNOG OUTDOOR Writing System

KNOG is an Australian-born brand founded by a British designer. By simply replacing the versatile power supply unit with various LED parts, this smart lighting system can be used as a lantern, headlight, flashlight, bicycle light, or a charger for smartphones, etc. (pictured here is an ultra-small headlamp that can be charged via USB).

There are many scenes outdoors where writing is required. Until now, we've been getting a lot of different items, but it's also possible to get a smart one like this.

Light My Fire spokes etc.

Light My Fire, a Nordic Swedish brand that is adorable for colorful and convenient outdoor camping accessories, has announced that it will now switch to plastics made from natural materials such as sugar cane. Again, the impact of the European market, which is no longer eco-friendly, is clearly reflected. How many days are there left to say it's not relevant because Japan is a different market?

LOEWI

A freshly-made service from a German medical technology venture. First, you purchase a blood collection kit and send your own blood to not only easily manage your health online or on your smartphone, but also provide detailed advice on nutrients that you lack. What's interesting is that nutritional supplements such as supplements are delivered regularly to compensate for the shortages. Apparently there are already several blood collection kits that can be done at home and services that can be sent by mail to diagnose illnesses, but I have never seen anything that has been done so far (although there may be legal restrictions).

BERG Outdoor SORDO

These boots have a very simple look, and are the ISPO Product of the Year this year. The new leather boots developed by BERG, an emerging Portuguese outdoor manufacturer, are made from 100% biodegradable materials, meaning they are all turned to earth. In theory, in six months, everything will be disassembled into the ground. In another sense, an incredible future is coming soon.
