[Outdoor Gearzine Membership] May Schedule

The May "Outdoor Gearzine Membership" activity schedule has been decided

As we have been announcing since two weeks ago, Outdoor Gearzine Membership, a new members-only community where members can "have fun, learn, and create together," will be fully launching various activities from May. Today, we have finalized the schedule and outline, so we would like to share with you what has been finalized so far

Part 1. [Beginners welcome] Learn the basics of mountain hiking and walk your favorite trails during the season when mountain azaleas bloom

Anyway, let's go hiking together. The location is Okuchichibu and Okutama area , and the following dates are planned.

Date and time: Sunday, May 19th *Will proceed if it rains a little

If the weather is clear this time of year, why not try hiking the low mountain trails (complete with a hot spring after descending) surrounded by the refreshing fresh greenery and blooming mountain azaleas? Participants are limited to six people, and beginners are welcome! If you'd like to learn tips and tricks for safely enjoying mountain hiking, such as planning your hike, choosing the right equipment, safety precautions, and recommended places to approach and after descending, I, a mountain hiker with over 20 years of experience, can provide detailed practical instruction. Details will be provided to those who have registered, so please register using the button below

*Free for those with the "Standard Plan" membership, but all others will be required to pay a participation fee of 1,000 yen on site

Enter the May hiking event (entry form)

For the time being, we are planning to hold camping and hiking events approximately every other month, that is, on the second and third weekends of every month, so we hope you will keep those dates in the back of your mind from June onwards

2. We will hold a monthly talk event (the date has changed)

We would also like to hold talk events, which we have been holding since last year, from May

Date, time and location:Wednesday, May 29thMay 30th (Thurs) 7pm ~ @ Masuda Studio 1F space

*We are currently in the process of coordinating the schedule with our guests, so please understand that there may be changes

As usual, the offline event will be limited to 20 participants. It will also be possible to participate in the live online broadcast. However, we are currently finalizing the theme and speakers, so please wait a little longer. We will set up a new entry page once the details are decided

*Participation is free for those with the "Standard Plan" membership, but all others will be asked to pay a participation fee of 1,000 yen

Also, for the time being, I'm thinking of holding talk events on the last Wednesday of every month. I'd like to continue with this plan from June onwards, so I appreciate your continued support

Part 3: We are currently creating member-only content, interviewing various people who know about the early days of outdoor culture in Japan

From "mountain climbing" to "outdoors." From the 1980s, when Japan's outdoor culture blossomed, to the present, we're working hard on an interview series to hear from a diverse range of people who have pioneered the outdoor industry and culture in various capacities, including manufacturers, distributors, distributors, and media, and who have supported its foundations to this day. By listening to these diverse individuals talk about the turbulent half-century, we hope to gain a sense of the dynamic energy of Japan's unique outdoor culture, which has never been discussed before, and to consider hints for how Japan's outdoor culture can flourish in a richer and more creative way in the future. The first installment is scheduled to be released in May, so please look forward to it

Part 4. We will participate in the "Shirataka Hills Trail Kickoff Event" hosted by the YLT Club again this year

This year, I will be participating in the 2024 Shirataka Hills Trail Kickoff Event, hosted by professional hiker Masafumi Saito's YLT club

Date and time: May 25th (Sat) and 26th (Sun), 2024

Location: Yamagata City Youth Nature House and Prefectural Forest

Participation details and application: Event details and application page

Just like last year, I plan to hold a flea market with some of the items I've reviewed. I'm also considering skiing at Mt. Gassan or taking a day hike around the area before or after the event, so if anyone in the area wants to join me, let's go to the mountains together. Please feel free to contact me

Please register for the Outdoor Gearzine Membership

So, we are still accepting registrations for the Outdoor Gearzine Membership. We strongly recommend the Standard membership. To participate in both the hiking and talk events, you need to pay 2,000 yen each, but the membership is only 1,000 yen, so there's no reason not to join! All your support will be used to cover the costs of running these projects and events. Please think of it as a crowdfunding campaign for Outdoor Gearzine, and we appreciate your support

This is the summary document from the presentation I gave to our members the other day about the future of membership. If you are interested, please take a look
