[Mountains, Skiing, and Cameras Special] Digest Video (Part 2: Taking Great Photos While Backcountry Skiing: Equipment and Tools) has been released

The second highlight video from "Photographing Mountains. Photographing People. (Camera Special)," the sixth offline talk and workshop event hosted by Outdoor Gearzine at the end of last year, has been released on YouTube. This time, we finally get to hear more specific details. Leading photographers openly talk about what kind of cameras and equipment they use to photograph backcountry skiing!

Video highlights

00:28 – What camera do you use? What lens does your SLR have?

A: Currently I have a Sony α9 + 70-300mm (maximum aperture F4) telephoto lens and a Sony RX0

04:50 – Is a so-called “bright lens” unnecessary? What settings should you use when shooting?

A: When photographing skiers, the basic settings are aperture value F8 and shutter speed 1/1600 second, so there is generally little need for brightness (however, this may not be the case depending on the subject and requirements at the time)

06:25 – What other camera-related items or basic equipment should I bring?

A: When I go on a day trip to a backcountry ski resort, I carry a backpack weighing less than 30kg and a camera bag that can hold a telephoto lens attached, secured to the front with a carabiner and strap. I also carry a lens cap with a string to prevent it from falling, and other things
