Review: OSPREY Atmos AG 65 Finally I've discovered a "wearable" backpack

The first time we encountered in our 25th year is the comfort beyond imagination.

It's not something you carry on, it's something you wear. This is a very famous word that expresses the essence of a backpack, but in reality there was a certain confusion about this word. It is true that the fit of backpacks continues to evolve remarkably, and although this is a concept that can be understood, in the senses, I was forced to feel that there is still an unsurpassed barrier to the shift from "wearing" to "wearing."

However, that was the story of how he met this guy. It's not overstated or anything, but the Atmos AG is a backpack that undoubtedly embodies the feeling of "wearing".

The Atmos series, which has been significantly renewed this season, uses the innovative back system, "Anti-Gravity Suspension," providing unparalleled comfort among medium-sized backpacks over 50L. Not only is this shocking experience, but there are many practical and shrewd details that are as typical of Osprey. I learned some of the things that bother me because I'm a bit of a sniff, which I've learned from actually using it... Now let's start a review.

This is amazing!

One-of-a-kind comfort

As Osprey's new rear system, the Anti-Gravity Suspension, suggests, is an innovative technology that distributes the load evenly, allowing you to carry it comfortably, making it as if you were forgetting the weight. The secret to its shocking comfort is the elastic and flexible mesh surface (photo) that covers the entire contact surface between your back, shoulders, and waist.

What surprised everyone when trying on clothes was the high resilience of the hip belt, which firmly holds the waist area. Furthermore, this mesh surface from the shoulders to the waist fits perfectly, literally clinging to your body, giving it a perfect fit. This feeling of fitting your back without gaps like a soft mesh shirt is truly the feeling of "wearing" a backpack.

Of course, the back length can be adjusted. Furthermore, the hip belt length can be adjusted over a wide range, allowing for an ideal fitting for a variety of body types.

Wonderful and comfortable breathability

Excellent breathability, including the space on the back, further accelerating the comfortable carrying experience.

The shoulder strap is made of sponge-like, with a hollowed-out shoulder strap for breathability. It is designed to create a moderate space while maintaining a good fit between the hip belt and the waist.

A convenient feature that is perfect for trekking

It has a very useful feature that suits modern trekking styles. First, there is an attachment that allows you to easily store trekking poles, known as Osprey.

The stretchy side pockets have openings in two directions, both sides and upwards, allowing you to store water bottles of various sizes in a position and orientation that can be easily taken out.

The strap (removable) allows you to attach sleeping pads, tents, etc., and has excellent storage capacity.

The top lid is removable, and a flap jacket comes standard with a lid that closes even when the canopy is removed when there are fewer luggages.

The canopy was removed and the flap jacket was placed.

Lightweight without waste

This backpack was created in the United States, a country of thru-hiking, with its high weight of less than 2kg.

This is not good

Stability under heavy load

The Atmos AG is an extraordinary, carrying luggage incredibly comfortable, but the only weakness I felt was the stability when carrying a heavy burden to the limit. When the packing weight reaches about 20kg, it feels like your body is constantly being pulled backward, perhaps because the center of gravity is at the back, compared to other backpacks, which is the amount of space in your back. Also, the slightest staggering makes the power of lateral shaking feel stronger than the others, and it is undeniable that the more burden it becomes, the less stable it becomes. However, there is no doubt that it is the best at up to 15kg.

Mountain attachments

Since the basic concept is the mainstream through-hiking (long-distance hiking and trekking) in North America, we cannot expect attachments intended for the gear needed for alpine climbing (such as climbing equipment, ropes, straps and loops that are convenient for storing snow-related gear).

Rain cover sold separately

If it comes standard, a great value rain cover is sold separately.

Summary: What kind of activities do you recommend?

To put it simply, the Atmos 65 has an outstanding fit and breathability, making it one of the best in carrying and comfort that we've ever experienced in a backpack of this capacity. With its high quality, it will be a great choice for most hikers, regardless of the other features, weight and cost. these features are are hiking and trekking in a tent during the spring to autumn seasons It is sure to be a great option for long-term trekking in the middle of summer, when you can see its high breathability. Its simple, multi-functional, and well-balanced usability make it perfect for long trips and backpacking.

However, this comfort does not suit all climbing styles. If you want to move actively with a heavy load of over 20kg or use it for serious climbs, an Alpine backpack (such as Millet, Deuter or Mammut) is likely to be a better option.

This is definitely recommended for hikers who want to be greedy, with a mild climate and slope that keeps long distances as light as possible, and not as comfortable as possible.
