When it comes to heat-retaining bottles used in the mountains, Thermos' "Mountain-only Bottle" and Montbell's "Alpine Thermo Bottle" are well known as sure-fire items, and are probably used by many people.
Meanwhile, what caught my eye was the " TEMPEAK LIGHT Super Heat Insulation Bottle ." Not only is it comparable to the classic Thermos and Montbell heat-retaining bottles, but it also displays higher insulation, but costs a threatening cost performance that brings you change for 3,000 yen. I can't help but test this.
So this time, Ten Peak Light Super Heat Insulation Bottle can be used for outdoor and mountain climbing purposes, and reviewing them while comparing them with standard Heat Insulation Bottles.
In conclusion, the Ten Peak Light Ultra Heat Insulation Bottle (hereinafter referred to as Ten Peak Light) was a heat-retaining bottle with excellent cost-effectiveness, with excellent heat retention, which is comparable to the standard.

Main features of TEMPEAK LIGHT (Tenpeak Light) Ultra-heating bottle
TEMPEAK LIGHT Ultra-heating Bottle
Tenpeek Light is a product of Atlas Co., Ltd., which manufactures and sells stainless steel tableware, tumblers, food jars, home appliances, and more, mainly around the kitchen.
This is a simple insulated bottle with a cup and bottle integrated into one, and comes in a lineup of 370ml, 500ml, and 750ml sizes. It has a five-layer insulation structure, and the vacuum layer blocks the influence of outside air temperature, and by reflecting radiant heat, it maintains the heat retention (cooling power).
Its high insulation properties allow the temperature to be kept at 81°C after 6 hours, with hot water filling up with 95°C (the error is ±1°C) in an environment with a temperature of about 20°C. (manufacturer's published value in tests with 500ml size)
This heat-retaining bottle won the 2024 Good Design Award for its excellent design and high functionality. (The Good Design Award is a Japanese contest sponsored by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, which has been honoring "good design" for over 60 years since 1957)
Comparison of specs with rivals you're interested in
As mentioned at the beginning, there are already many heat-retaining bottles that are perfect for use when climbing, and the most common are Thermos' "Mountain Bottle" and Montbell's "Alpine Thermo Bottle."
The mountain bottle, Alpine Thermo bottle, and Tenpeek Light are all made of stainless steel and have the same specifications, so they are comparable, so we would like to compare the specifications and heat retention.
As for the evaluation items, five indicators were set as follows and rated with 5 stars.
- Insulation performance: Warm items are warm, cold items are cold. Measure indoors and outdoors to ensure that the temperature can be maintained for as long as possible.

*1: The official heat retention test is the temperature of the hot water (water) when it is left vertically with the inner cap and lid in an environment with room temperature of 20°C (±2°C) or 95°C after it reaches 95°C.
*2: The official cold storage test is the temperature of the water when it is left to 4°C or lower (±1°C) or 4°C cold water is filled to the bottom edge of the medium and placed vertically, and then left with a plug and cup attached for 6 hours.
Testing insulation performance using a thermometer
Use a cooking thermometer for testing
The three models we compared were tested by unifying the bottle capacity of a 500ml model so that they can be compared under the same conditions as possible.
The test was conducted at room temperature at about 20°C, which is close to the environment for official heat retention tests by the manufacturer, and in a freezer (below minus 15°C).
In each test, the temperature is measured after 1 hour, 3 hours, and 6 hours.
I poured it to the inner plug until it was boiled until it was thick, then placed vertically with the inner plug and cup attached, and measured it with a cooking thermometer depending on the time elapsed, but since all bottles cannot be measured at the same time, there is a slight difference in time, so I would like to compare it as a reference rather than an accurate number.
Room temperature test (air temperature approx. 20℃): All three models have an equal ability

3 hours later | 86.3 | 87.4℃ | 86.4℃ |
6 hours later | 80.5 | 81.0℃ | 80.0℃ |
First, we tested the temperature in an environment of approximately 20°C. After 6 hours, the hottest temperature was at 81°C at Montbell. Next, Ten Peak Light reached 80.5°C and Thermos reached 80°C. All bottles have a temperature difference of 6 hours within 1°C, indicating that all bottles have high heat retention.
Temperature after 6 hours in the indoor test. All bottles maintain a temperature of 80°C or higher
The Ten Peak Light was 0.5°C lower than the official measurements. Although we would like you to understand that this is a simple test using household equipment and equipment, Montbell and Thermos are higher than the official measured values, and in fact, the temperature change can be said to be written conservatively.
By the way, the temperature is about 80°C, which is the temperature at which you can eat cup ramen without any problems.
Low temperature environment (temperature below -15°C): This one is also almost equal in ability (or rather, Ten Peak is excellent!)

The next test was placed in the freezer. The freezer is below -15°C, making it an environment that can be imagined in Mt. Yatsugatake during the harsh winter. We placed ice packs between the bottles to prevent the bottles from interfering, and tested them.
After 6 hours, the highest temperature was 78.2°C for Tenpeek Light, followed by Montbell (77.4°C) and Thermos (76.0°C).
The temperature was below -15°C, and the results after 6 hours were slightly lower than in outdoor tests, but they kept the temperature hot enough. What we can see from these results is that although the low temperature environment is affected slightly, all bottles boast high insulation performance and do not have a significant difference in strength.
Keeps high temperatures even when tested under -15°C
In the comparison test of insulation performance, no bottles were able to pop out, so in order to select the best bottle, you need to look at details other than the heat retention (cooling) power.
From here on, we will provide you with a detailed review of Ten Peak Light and explain its practicality with each bottle.
Detailed review of TEMPEAK LIGHT Ultra-heating Bottle
Favorite points
- High heat and cold retention
- Simple design and colours for everyday use
- Excellent cost performance
- Stress-free spout and simple parts
Interesting points
- It's bigger and heavier than the rival heater bottle
- It slips when wearing gloves
High heat and cold retention
I was also surprised to see that when tested in a low temperature environment below -15°C, it kept temperatures higher than Montbell and Thermos. Ten Peak Light has the heat retention power that can be matched on an equal level compared to Montbell and Thermos heat retention bottles.
In an environment with a temperature of about 20°C, the temperature after 12 hours was 71.1°C, so even the hot water I made before going to bed will last well until the next morning. For example, in crowded tents, you may be hesitant to use a stove early in the morning, but with Ten Peak Light you can drink hot coffee as soon as you wake up.
Furthermore, since it has a capacity of 500ml, you can eat 300ml of soup (150ml) in addition to coffee (150ml), and even 200ml of alpha rice, so by keeping it full, you can get exactly one serving of hot water.
If it feels lukewarm with 70°C water, you can reheat it with a stove to bring it to a boil immediately, and it will boil for a shorter time than heating it from room temperature, which saves time and saves fuel, making it two birds with one stone.
Excellent cost performance
The price of the 500ml size for 2,680 yen (tax included) and 3,000 yen is just the lowest price among the heat-retaining bottles compared. The Thermos is more than doubled (6,050 yen) and even Montbell is more than 1.5 times (4,400 yen), so Tenpeak Light is a great choice for those who want to save their costs.
Looking at the results of the heat retention test, just because it is cheap doesn't mean it's performance is inferior, and it's the most cost-effective heat retention bottle that's compared to its heat retention performance.
It's bigger and heavier than the rival heater bottle
The most compact size is Montbell's Alpine Thermo Bottle
Tenpeek light provides heat retention, but the size and weight of the concerns are its size. As you can see from the photo above, the Ten Peak light is the largest size and the bottle diameter is also thicker.
It weighs 293.5g, and the difference between its lightest Montbell (258.0g) is 35.5g. For those who are serious about cutting even 1g, the weight difference of 35.5g is something that cannot be compromised even if they pay a little.
Incidentally, all three bottles we compared have removable silicone rubber attached, and by removing the silicone rubber, it can be slightly lighter.
Minimum weight with silicone rubber removed
With the silicone rubber removed, the Montbell is 235g, the mountain bottle is 258.5g, and the Ten Peak Light is 280.5g, which is less than 300g, making it a lightweight category, but the weight difference between its rivals is noticeable. Overall, looking at the balance between insulation performance, weight and size, Montbell is definitely strong.
Considering its high heat retention and its inexpensiveness, this weight difference can be said to be within the limits of a blind eye, but the best heat retention bottle would likely be a question of the weight and weight of the bag.
Simple design and colours for everyday use
The colors are burgundy, silver and navy, and have a simple design, and the logo mark is small and not noticeable, so it can be used in everyday use without any discomfort.
The design varies completely depending on your preference, so it's a subjective opinion, but outdoor designs are cool because they are used in the field, and they don't look good when used in everyday life. .
Slips when wearing gloves
Thermos's dedicated mountain bottle has a silicon band arranged to prevent slipping when you hold it.
One thing that bothered me was that it would slip when wearing gloves that were not anti-slip, making it difficult to open the lid. This is not so difficult to use, but rather that it made me realize that Thermos is particular about ease of use.
Thermos's mountain bottle looks like an outdoor-like look, but the cup has unevenness so you can turn it without slipping even when wearing gloves, and when you hold the hand when opening the inner plug, there is a silicone band attached to it, making it extremely easy to use when using it in the mountains.
The silicone band can be removed if not needed, so practicality is the best choice for Thermos's mountain bottle.
Stress-free spout and simple parts
A simple spout allows you to pour hot water without stress
The insulation test results prove that Ten Peak Light has a high heat retention power, but the spout has a simple structure that can be poured from two points above and below, making it easy to use without any stress.
When cleaning, there is a lot of gaskets and the number of scores required, which is a hassle to wash, and the structure of the cap is as simple as possible and the scores directly affect ease of maintenance. Thermos has a double-layered cap, so it is a pain to maintain its ease of care, but Tenpeek Light and Montbell also have a minimum number of parts, making it a great choice for its ease of care.
The number of parts is directly related to ease of maintenance.
