[NIKWAX Special Feature] Digest Video (Part 3: Maintenance of Other Mountain Gear) has been released

This is a bit late, but the final video of the digest archive of the event "NIKWAX Maintenance Special" held on November 7th (part 3 and 4) (maintenance of other mountain gear) has been posted on YouTube. Everyone, please check it out!

Video synopsis

00:30 – How to properly care for your synthetic base layers

A: You can use "Tech Wash" (a detergent that only removes dirt) as a detergent. However, if you don't mind the trouble, we recommend using "Wool Wash" as it will increase the absorbency and other benefits. When drying, try to avoid direct sunlight as much as possible. Nylon is particularly vulnerable to ultraviolet rays, although polyester is not

1:55 – Tips for drying and storing base layers (especially wool)

A: Not just base layers, but all wool products should be laid flat to dry to prevent them from losing their shape

2:45 – How often do you wash your outerwear? Is it possible to wash it too much?

A: (In my personal opinion) I decide whether to wash or not based on the following feelings

The act of "washing" is damaging to clothing, to a greater or lesser extent. If your clothing is not dirty, it will last longer if you don't wash it. In reality, it will get dirty as long as you wear it, so you have to wash it. The best solution for long-lasting clothing is to maintain it as few times as necessary

05:00 – How to properly use a water repellent spray and a soak-in water repellent (NIKWAX)

A: If you want to apply it all over, you can use a water repellent, but if you want to apply it partially, you can use a water repellent spray. Examples of when you want to apply it partially include when you have cleaned or washed off dirt that has accumulated in a specific area, or when you have hybrid garments with a water repellent outer layer and a water absorbent lining, and you don't want to apply water repellent to the backside

07:45 – How to properly maintain hybrid leather and synthetic gloves

A: To remove dirt from gloves, we recommend "Footwear Cleaning Gel," a shoe and gear product containing leather-conditioning ingredients that can be used on both leather and fabric. For water-repellent treatment, we recommend "Glove Proof," a water-repellent agent for leather and fabric gloves. Compared to regular water-repellent agents, it is designed to be less slippery even when water is applied

08:40 – How to properly maintain your backpack

A: Washing the backpack as a whole is generally not recommended (as it will damage the coating on the inside). Basically, you should scrub the dirty parts with a scrubbing brush and then wash it off with water. For heavily soiled parts, we recommend using Tent & Gear Solar Wash as a detergent, as it not only improves cleaning power but also provides UV protection (afterwards, spraying on a water repellent will make it perfect)
