About the talk event

The theme was "What do you take on a hike? Let's ask Masaru Mori"

Mori Masaru, a well-known figure in outdoor magazines and a recognized expert on gear and low mountain equipment, will be packing a backpack with the complete set of gear he normally uses, mainly for day hikes. We'll have him talk in detail about the clothing and gear, from their appearance to their mechanisms, how to use them, and his particular preferences. Furthermore, as someone who regularly hikes in the mountains around Tokyo, such as Ome, Itsukaichi, Okutama, and Takao, we might even get to hear about some special spots and hiking routes!

We've also requested some of Morikatsu's recent favorite items, so we hope to tailor the content to suit the audience, from hiking beginners looking to get serious about their gear to enthusiasts looking for something a little different and superior. We can't wait to hear Morikatsu's practical and tool-loving choices, as he's been familiar with the outdoors for many years, including hiking, backpacking, frisbees, caving, and exploring! If you have any other ideas, we'd love to incorporate them before the event, so please let us know if you have any passionate requests

About Masaru Mori

He is a researcher of low mountain props with a background in product design. As a child, he was obsessed with secret bases, the Hiroshi Kawaguchi Expedition, and Huckleberry Finn. He is a member of a cave exploration club and has a weakness for words like "untrodden" and "secret." He is also a cat-like hiker who circles the same places and keeps watch, and can be found basking in the sun in secret spots in Okutama and Mount TakaoOfficial BlogYouTube Channel

After the talk, we will also hold our usual flea market, where we will be selling outdoor gear that we have purchased through reviews on this website at an average discount of 70%! Please look forward to that too!

About the venue

To begin with, we've always wanted to hold in-person events, including these kinds of chats, on this site on a regular basis, but the conditions for doing so, including the cost, were not right, and we were unable to make it a reality. Now, with the full cooperation of Akishima Outdoor Village's outdoor activity complex "PLAY," we've decided to hold the event as part of the facility's regular programs. This means that the talk event will be part of PLAY's programs, and participation is free for monthly PLAY members (please note that there is a fee for non-members) . Depending on the response going forward, we hope to hold regular events and programs based here.

For those of you who are hesitant to join YuYu because of the fee, here's some good news. Not only will the participation fee include the PLAY membership registration fee, but participants will also receive a 10% discount on select shop items, and for that day only, you can participate in all PLAY programs, such as bouldering and yoga, which cost several thousand yen per session, for free . In addition to the talk event, we have prepared a ton of perks for you to enjoy Outdoor Village all day long. Of course, this day is a fantastic opportunity not only for those who don't need to join, but also for those who have been thinking about joining. Please see the event summary below for more details.

So I am really looking forward to meeting you all
