Introducing the first offline event of 2025 brought to you by Outdoor Gearzine!
People who have never walked snowshoes or fishy on the snow, people who have never climbed a snowy mountain, people who want to ski on snowy mountains, people who want to stay overnight in the snow, and people who want to try creating a snow cave.
You can do mountain climbing and hiking solo, but you can't gain experience in activities on snowy mountains by yourself, and you may be worried that it would be difficult to pay a lot of money to go on a guided tour. This project is perfect for those who want to gain experience in snowy mountains.
The location is Makikiyama, a famous mountain in Echigo.
In the summer, we are climbing mountains, climbing streams, fishing for streams, and camping. And in winter, heavy snowfall is in an incredible location where you can enjoy a variety of activities all year round, such as snowshoe hiking, snow mountain climbing, backcountry skiing, and snow camping.
The Imori Matsuguya is quietly located at the foot of the mountain. *This is a private mountain hut, so it is not open to the public.
Located just an hour's walk from the parking lot (in the summer, you can walk along a wide snowy road that is a forest road. It's a gentle road in the forest that even a 5-year-old can reach). This mountain hut is equipped with electricity, propane gas, and is equipped with living and dining rooms, futons and beds, audio equipment, electric kotatsu and wood stoves, making it a safe base camp for activities even during the harsh winter.
Last summer, Outdoor Gearzine rented this mountain hut to hold a stream climbing and stream fishing event, but this time we'll be holding an offline event where we can experience winter mountains around this mountain hut, where snow is piled up.

By the way, things you can do will vary depending on the weather on the day. Well, even if there are various unforeseen circumstances, you can rest assured that you can just leave it warm in a mountain hut if it happens.
We welcome those who want to go home on a day trip (as it's not impossible)!
Participation fees and equipment
The participation fee is only 1,000 yen for standard membership users. For those other than that, the event participation fee plus the mountain hut usage fee is 2,000 yen, so please be aware of this.
Just to be safe, this is a different kind of offline meeting between readers, and it is essentially an offline meeting between readers, so you should prepare the basic personal equipment you need for snowy mountain climbing yourself, and fundamentally have the spirit of "protecting your own life" (even if you don't have one, you can rent it, so please feel free to contact us). Of course, you can provide solid support to help you experience the snowy mountains safely, so don't worry about this.
Regarding tents, mats, and sleeping bags, if you would like to sleep in a snow cave or tent, please bring your own camping equipment (if you don't have the equipment but want to try it, you can rent it on a first-come, first-served basis, although the number is limited).
We also offer rentals for snow mountain equipment other than clothing and mountaineering boots, such as snowshoes, snacks, and pickles, so please feel free to contact us.
In any case, I don't think there are any other events where you can experience this much in a comfortable mountain hut even in winter!
