Project No. 2: "Wilderness Medical Associates Japan Special Lecture "Outdoor Emergency Method Using Mountain Climbing Equipment"

overview:

I would like to learn more about tools by learning live emergency knowledge that cannot be learned through books or the internet.

Yokobori Isamu (WMAJ Co-Representative Director, WMAI Lead Instructor)

It's only natural that mountain tools are not something you can display at home and look at, but that's not necessarily fine as long as you can use them according to the manual. In the remote nature, people are hit by unexpected injuries, accidents, and natural disasters, and no one can help them. Survival in such a situation requires you to make full use of what is in your surroundings and get through it. In such cases, what can you do using the tools you have now? Knowing how to use a variety of tools to help outdoor tools not as simple tools but as "living partners" who can help you in any situation is beneficial, not only to prevent accidents that may result in accidents that may be lost, but also to manage the crisis in the event of a disaster that occurs on a daily basis.

This time, we will be asking Yokobori Isamu, co-president of Wilderness Medical Associates Japan, who is well-versed in emergency situations in the outdoors and in the event of a disaster, and will give us a lecture on a special course focusing on how to use tools in the event of an emergency, based on the perspective of WFA Wilderness First Aid!

What is Wilderness Medical Associates Japan? (Go to the official website)

What is WFA Wilderness First Aid?

The "Outdoor and Disaster Emergency Act" is the emergency law that "connects life" even in situations where medical access is harsh or disaster-related.

Since its founding in 1981, WMA has continued to contribute on a global scale to the development of practical medicine in harsh environments and circumstances. We are rescue medicine specialists, researchers, experienced educators and advocates for healthcare in the Wilderness situation. As of 2019, it has been selected by over 10,000 people per year in over 30 countries on seven major continents around the world.

The official curriculum systematically summarizes the evaluation and treatment required under the Wildness situation (where it takes a long time to transfer to the medical system or receive the necessary procedures), as well as long follow-up and nursing, and thinking in harsh natural environments. This is a new first aid method in Japan, with a learning style that involves understanding theoretically through classroom learning and then learning through practical skills.

All participants will receive a YAMANOVA coffee drip bag

On the day, participants will receive one drip bag from the aforementioned YAMANOVA Coffee! In addition, we can accept limited-edition coffee beans, drip bag sales, and subscriptions.

lastly

Thanks to you, Outdoor Gearzine, who wants to make the outdoor world even more enjoyable through tools, is celebrating its 5th anniversary. Nowadays, there are more and more outdoor media everywhere than you would imagine five years ago. In the midst of all this, I tried so hard to survive to this point, but there are still so many things I lack. Over the next five years, we will continue to experiment and error to further explore what can only be done with this media, so please continue to read this article.

We would like to make it a place where all people who are seriously looking at the outdoors as a purpose in life, as a hobby, and as a spice in life can enjoy it, so we look forward to seeing many people coming!
