I fell in love at first sight with the graceful curves of the legs, which I didn't expect from a camp chair

While browsing through a catalog, I fell in love at first sight with Big Agnes' Skyline UL Chair Black. The reason is simple: the Skyline UL Chair Black has beautiful leg design that is incomparable to other camping chairs
At this point, most people will probably be left wondering, but if you take a look at the legs of the folding camping chair "Skyline UL Chair Black," you'll see that, except for the covers on the pole ends, everything is made of metal, which Big Agnes calls the "Lightweight Aircraft Aluminum Pole System."

Assembly and storage of the Skyline UL Chair Black
The pole joint of the "Skyline UL Chair Black." The pole itself has a special shape to accommodate the specially shaped hole. This creates a beautiful design
The biggest feature of the Skyline UL Chair Black is the keyhole-shaped hole in the thickest center pole, located directly below the seat. After inserting and connecting the four poles into this keyhole, the frame is completed by connecting the poles using the shock cord that runs through the poles. Anyone can easily assemble the chair as long as they are careful about the orientation of the keyhole
Once the frame is complete, simply attach the seat to the frame and the Skyline UL Chair Black is complete. It's so simple that even first-timers can assemble it in just a few minutes, and once you get used to it, it can be assembled in under a minute
When placed in the included storage bag, the size is approximately 9 x 9 x 43 cm. As you can see in the photo, it can be stored quite compactly, which is a nice feature
This assembly process itself is not much different from other products unless they are made with extremely poor precision, but the precision of the keyhole holes with notches, and the shape of the poles that are machined to fit the notches, show a level of craftsmanship that is far superior to that of ordinary camping chairs, where you simply assemble straight poles.The high level of precision in the machining makes the assembly process itself give you a renewed sense of satisfaction as you own it
Conversely, once you get used to it, it only takes about 30 seconds to disassemble it for storage, and it also takes about 30 seconds to store it in the included bag.The craftsmanship quality is so great that even this tedious storage process is a joy to use

However, as a camping chair with a seat attached to a pole frame, I would say that it is not so different from other products that I can confidently say it is incredibly comfortable to sit on
One thing that bothers me a little is that it's a little smaller than the Trekker The Light Chair (Khaki) (actual price around 5,500 yen) that I own. The Skyline UL Chair Black measures approximately 53cm wide x 44cm deep x 66cm high, while the Trekker The Light Chair (Khaki) measures approximately 54cm wide x 50cm deep x 70cm high, so it's also a little smaller. However, perhaps because the Trekker The Light Chair (Khaki) has a weight capacity of 80kg, while the Skyline UL Chair Black has a weight capacity of 125kg, there seems to be less flex or creaking in the frame. I'm only about 170cm tall, so it's hardly a problem, but larger people might find it a little small
The folded pole is placed on the seat cushion. There are no plastic connecting parts, so it looks neat even when folded
That said, rather than subtle differences in camping chair comfort, I place more importance on things like how easy it is to assemble and store, and a simple, beautifully curved design without any plastic parts. This is because, I forget who said it, but I believe that "beauty of design is important precisely because chairs are furniture that are looked at more than sat in." For example, on a two-day or two-night, three-day camping trip, you don't actually spend that much time sitting in a chair. However, once you set up a chair, it will be looked at by everyone, including you, the owner. With that in mind, I think it's very important for a chair to have a design that is perceived as beautiful
Furthermore, when you take it out and assemble it, put it away, or even lift it up and move it, you can feel that it is made with great precision and is also light, which makes you realize once again the joy of owning it
In that sense, it can be said to be a beautiful camping chair that gives you the joy of owning it in every way. In a sense, it can be said to be entirely a hobby

Before I bought the Skyline UL Chair Black, I used Captain Stag's Trekker The Light Chair (Khaki), which cost around 5,500 yen. There are plenty of cheaper options available, so this is a very expensive model, costing 4 to 5 times the price of a cheaper camping chair
And even if you brag about it, only a few fellow enthusiasts may agree. Keeping this in mind, I recommend quietly purchasing your own camping chair and enjoying the sleek, elegant leg design, its lightness when lifting, and the high craftsmanship of each part when setting it up, assembling it, and storing it away, all by yourself. It's truly a toy for adults to enjoy alone. Rather than buying one for the whole family, it might be fun to secretly buy just one for yourself for solo camping trips. Personally, I highly recommend this camping chair
