This is the third installment in the "I got it from Sekaimon and tried it out" series. Until now, I have written that Sekaimon can easily purchase outdoor gear that is difficult to obtain in Japan, allowing you to easily overcome the English barrier ( see this article I previously introduced write about Eureka Suite Dream 2 , a unique tent that is only available in America, the home of camping, ordered from overseas

Eureka , it has always been a stable brand for Japanese people, with a wide selection of affordable yet high-quality (=high-value-performance) tents. However, as of 2018, it is difficult to obtain in Japan. In Japan, there are still very few options when it comes to tents, but looking at the world, a wide variety of tents have been created to meet the detailed needs of recent camping and festival culture. If you want a tent that is "just right" in many ways, and not just people, it might be a good idea to try selling overseas such as Sekaimon.

Even if you don't have anything particularly important, Sekaimon also a page that updates camping equipment sales information daily , and sometimes unexpected bargains can lie around. For now, it's a good idea to take a quick look.

Eureka Suite Dream 2's rough features

This is a modern camping tent that first appeared in 2017, with livability and convenience being the key priority. The living room space is approximately 4 m2, the queen-sized mattress and spacious luggage, and the unusual pole structure that allows for wide ceilings and vestibule space, making it extremely livable for a typical two-person tent. The entrances and exits in front and back, large vestibule, plenty of pockets and ceiling gear loft make life in the tent even more comfortable. The breathable, breathable, visible half-mesh innerwear and a water-resistant fly sheet keeps the environment inside the tent comfortable at all times. It also includes a wide range of accessories such as footprints and pegs, and is reasonably priced.

Detailed review

First of all, the local tent offers a wide range of accessories, including pegs, ropes, footprints, gear lofts (ceiling pockets), and carry bags. Moreover, considering the high livability described below, the body weight of 3.2kg is surprisingly light.

I'll set it up right away. A two-person tent would normally be a rectangular size of about 1.5m x 2m, but this tent is almost square (1.9m x 2.1m) and has a triangular part that allows you to place luggage. It looks like it's enough for three people.

Attach the pole. First, cross the two main poles, set them on the eyelets at the four corners, and hook them. Then set the three-way irregular poles on the remaining apex of the ground and the eyelets on the ceiling, and hook them too, and you're done. It's a hook type, so assembly is not very difficult even for one person.

This irregular pole also widens the ceiling and entrance, making the ceiling area even more spacious than a simple dome-shaped tent (photo below). Of course, simply raising the tent will make the living space larger, but this will result in sacrificing wind resistance and weight. This kind of ingenuity to "expand the living space (improve comfort) without increasing the height."

Let's take a look inside the tent. I tried putting two sleeping mats on the floor (photo below). There is ample space on both sides, and there is also plenty of space near the entrance to accommodate two people's luggage.

The inner tent is a half mesh design that combines windproof and breathable. If you use it on a hot, sunny day without hanging a fly sheet, you can also enjoy a pleasant view of the sky from inside your tent. It prevents moderate wind and direct sunlight, allowing you to relax in the gentle sunlight and gaze at the starry sky, making it a playful touch.

The tent has 6 mesh pockets, including each of the four corners, the ceiling and entrance, as well as the included gear loft (photo below), so there's no shortage of storage. Furthermore, loops are placed everywhere in the room where you can attach storage accessories sold separately, which also makes it even more convenient. Of course, you can try using this loop yourself.

Return to assembly again. Finally, cover the fly sheet and firmly tighten the rope with the pegs to complete it. Incidentally, although this photo does not install it, you can further improve wind resistance by placing the included rope on each pole part of the fly sheet to secure the tent. By the way, the small transparent window (photo below) allows you to view the outside without having to open the fly is a bit convenient.

It is rare for two-person tents, with the entrance being placed on both front and back sides (photo below). You can enter and exit without interfering with each other, making it comfortable even for long tents.

The large entrance and exit on the front also have a wide vestibule, and the fly sheet can be rolled up large.

Things to be bothered

Breathability when closed

The ventilation is a little disappointing, as it is just this part on the back of the fly sheet (photo below). The inner tent is mesh so it's not too bothersome, but the air permeability when the fly sheet is closed is not that high, so it's a bit of a concern when indoors are in high humidity seasons.

(If I agree that it's for camping) I want a little more height

The ceiling was appreciated, but if you were to just assume it was for camping anyway, this structure would have an even higher height of about 160 cm, making it even more attractive as a luxury camping tent. However, this is not just a matter of dissatisfaction with the current situation, but rather a matter of aiming for a higher level.

Summary: A comfortable tent that can be easily taken out for compact camping, as a base for mountain climbing

When you look at the Suite Dream 2 as a camping tent, it may certainly not be the "wide" tent. However, the room is very spacious, but on the other hand, it's not like a heavy tent. The smart structure and design, and many ideas that take into consideration maximum comfort and convenience while reducing unnecessary weight, provide a smart comfort that is different from heavy, long camping that you can drive by car with large luggage, and is not carried around with anything other than what you need. Don't forget that it's of such high quality, yet it's easy to get even for beginners. Perfect for smart campers who don't want to lose their lightness, or as a base camp for stay-at-home climbing, this tent will provide you with irreplaceable time with your loved ones in nature.
