Mount Rose is a mountain in the northern Sierra Nevada Mountains. Located in Nevada, this mountain towers several miles northeast of Lake Tahoe.

Close to Carson City, Reno and Lake Tahoe, there are many ski spots in the Mount Rose area. In winter, it is a very popular ski area, and many people come from the Bay Areas such as San Francisco. It is located about 30 minutes' drive from Reno. (It's about a 4 hour drive from San Francisco)

Trail data

Hiking departure from the trailhead (trailhead)

The parking lot is fairly spacious, but I arrived at 12:00 (June) and there were already many cars parked there.

There is a parking lot, but it has been closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

There are no toilets on the trail. If necessary, use the blue sky toilet.

The Mount Rose trail begins at the back of the bathroom.

It's finally the start.

You can see Lake Tahoe, a beautiful blue color in the depths of the road. It's as beautiful as ever.

The road is fairly flat at the beginning. The weather is nice, but the wind is already strong, so although I was a little worried about how strong the wind would be near the summit, the beautiful view continued to soothe my heart.

On the way there, I talked to a hiker who was coming down and there was a huge breeze on the summit! Everyone said that.

The slope begins a little bit, and you can see the summit of Mount Rose, diagonally to the right, ahead of you later.

After walking about 4km, you can hear the sound of a waterfall about 50 minutes.

It's not that big, but you'll be greeted by a beautiful waterfall. Some people were taking a break here. It's a great place to take a refreshing break.

After a short break, we headed out again.

There is a sign just before the waterfall, and the trail continues behind it.

There is also a beautiful stream flowing.

Mount Rose is beginning to appear closer than before.

The birds chirping is also very pleasant. .

You will be able to create signs at several points along the way, but continue on to MT ROSE SUMMIT TH.

The flowers are still in bloom, making it a very beautiful trail.

The forest limits have also surpassed, and as you approach the summit, your surrounding scenery and visibility will also increase.

At the same time, the wind is even stronger, so you can climb with your feet one step at a time.

The view is amazing.

The last sprint to the summit is the highlight of this trail! That's how the climb continues with a sense of climax.

The trail is also over 3000m above sea level, and the last one is tough.

The summit is also visible. However, the wind is strong. The wind-bed shell hoodie was very helpful. The weather was great but it would have been cold without the shell.

Two hours after departure we arrived at the summit.

It offers a 360-degree view surrounding Lake Tahoe, as well as the nearby town, RENO and its surroundings.

The slope just before the summit is quite tough, and it's a route that requires a lot of physical strength at the very end.

It was a very good training. It was a short walk and a break, but the view was amazing and it was a trail that was worth climbing.

On the way back, we took the same route as the one we came. The weather was great, and it was a Mount Rose hike that you should definitely try when you go to Lake Tahoe or Reno.
