The first offline event in September: "Walking along the source of a river, fishing, having a bonfire, and staying overnight" [The joy of mountain stream walking]

There will be two offline events in September 2025!

The Outdoor Gearzine membership offline event will be suspended in August as we expect everyone to have their own holidays or trips

Instead, we would like to hold the event twice in September, once in the first half and once in the second half!

First, we would like to inform you about our first event, "Overnight Mountain Stream Fishing"!

Offline event in September 2025: "A journey to the source of the river: walking, fishing, having a bonfire, and staying overnight"

■Date and time: September 6th and 7th (Saturday and Sunday)

*The event will be cancelled if rain or flooding is expected. If the event is cancelled due to weather or other reasons, we will notify you by email by 12:00 on the Friday before the event

■ Location: To be determined

*Due to weather conditions and other factors, the location is yet to be decided, but it will be somewhere in Saitama, Yamanashi, Gunma, Tochigi, or Niigata prefectures. The level of the canyoning will be beginner to intermediate (around grade 2), with some direct climbing over waterfalls and high climbs, but no rope securing

Please be aware that it may be difficult to access the site if you live in the Tokai or Western Japan areas

■Number of applicants: First 4 people (Applications will be closed on a first-come, first-served basis)

■Minimum experience required to participate:

Experience camping in a tent and climbing or fishing at the source of a river

*Experience walking through a stream in mountain stream shoes

■Participation fee:

Participation is conditional on signing up for the "Standard Plan" membership (1,000 yen/month) by the day of the event

Once you join, you can participate in any event of that month for free, so please join us!

(If you are already a member, it is free. If you are not a member, please join by the day of the event.)

For our offline event in September, we will finally be offering the most fun and premium stream fishing experience possible, a one-night plan that combines stream fishing with camping in the stream

Climbing the stream allows you to fully appreciate the mystery and depth of untouched nature, mountain stream fishing allows you to experience the pure joy of "catching fish", and spending the night carefree under the open sky while enjoying a feast of freshly caught delicacies around a bonfire. Why not join us on this stream trip that condenses all the fun of the outdoors?

Due to the nature of the content, this event is not suitable for beginners

The target participants are people who " like mountain stream fishing and have done it quite often on day trips, but have never done it overnight ."

In other words , it may be a bit difficult for people who are new to stream climbing, fishing, or camping in a tent

Also, for those who say, " I've camped in a tent before, but this is my first time walking in a stream or fishing in a mountain stream, " suddenly carrying camping gear and making my debut in stream climbing will likely be quite a challenge.

In any case, if you are interested but a little worried, please feel free to contact us

About the location

The location has yet to be decided, but I think it will be somewhere in Saitama, Yamanashi, Gunma, Tochigi, or Niigata, which I'm familiar with. I want to prioritize safety by choosing a location with a stable water level based on the rainfall up until the day before, so I'll discuss it and make a decision once the members are confirmed

If further details or advance training are required, we are considering holding advance online meetings with those who have registered to provide such information

Regarding the equipment you need to prepare

Basically, we ask that each participant prepare the necessary equipment for mountain stream fishing and camping. This includes basic equipment for stream climbing (including harnesses and helmets) and fishing tackle

However, Outdoor Gearzine can lend you fishing equipment and tackle, stream climbing equipment, and camping gear (except for items that are in certain sizes), so if you absolutely cannot get the equipment you need, please feel free to contact us

Please be aware in advance

Please note that this event is not a guided tour, so participants must participate at their own risk. Outdoor Gearzine will not be held responsible for any injuries, illnesses, or accidents that occur during the event

However, we will of course provide thorough support so that you don't get lost, so please don't worry about that

*We have reached capacity and are now closed for participation entries

Of course, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us

There are two types of membership: "Light Plan" and "Standard Plan"

is available Light Plan that provides only operational support and access to exclusive content Standard Plan that also provides free participation in various events, including offline events

Various events are planned to be held at least once a month from now on, and in addition to talk events like those held last year, we are considering inviting lecturers to hold workshops, study sessions, screenings, etc. We also plan to provide online live streaming and archived content for those who are too far away to travel or who were unable to attend on the day, so we would appreciate support from people all over the country

In addition to these offline events in Tokyo, we also plan to hold meetup events for camping, hiking, running, and other outdoor activities about once a month. We would like to decide how to proceed together with the members who have actually joined us in the future
