Ambassador check out Workman's new autumn/winter releases! [5] Review of tops that can be used for winter mountain climbing

Winter mountain climbing. Even on low mountains, it's rare to spend the whole day in just a T-shirt due to the cold. You'll want to wear a light outer layer to protect against the wind and cold. However, even to regulate your temperature, you want to avoid constantly putting on and taking off clothes as much as possible. If possible, you'll want something that's breathable, doesn't get stuffy while climbing, doesn't get in the way, and allows you to move around freely. With that in mind, we've picked out some items from Workman

Workman's tops review that are perfect for winter mountain climbing

1279 WARM SHIELD Powder Fleece Half High Neck (Outdoor Recommended Rating ★★★☆☆) 1,500 yen

1279 WARM SHIELD Powder Fleece Half High Neck Find-Out Workwear, Men's, Fall/Winter Cold Weather, 6 Colors, M-3L | Winter Workwear, Cold Weather Apparel, Winter Tops, High Neck Fleece, Innerwear, Inner Shirt, Men's Undershirt

Ease of movement◎ Windproof◯ Breathability△ Warmth◯ Soft to the touch◎

The silhouette is slim, especially around the armpits and stomach

The Find Out long-sleeve half-zip jacket is billed as "soft to the touch, like powdered snow." The lining is made of a soft, fine-grained micro-powder fleece. My experience trying it on: The waist was a little tight. Even for me, who is slightly slim (180cm tall, 64kg), the medium size felt tight. Since the FIT STYLE specifies a slim silhouette, perhaps I should have chosen the large. The sleeves also felt short. The micro-powder fleece itself is thick, but the underarm area is slim and not itchy. It's smooth and very comfortable. Honestly, it's warm enough on its own, and my arms are easy to move around in. However, when I started moving around, sweat trapped inside the garment, making it a little stuffy. It doesn't seem to have much breathability. I recommend wearing it in the morning when temperatures are cooler or while descending a mountain

Regardless of the design sense, it looks like it would be useful for winter activities

The lining is made of fine micro-powder fleece, which is smooth and comfortable, but may also help keep you cool when you sweat

1274 STORM SHIELD Half Zip (Outdoor Recommended Rating ★★★★☆) 1,900 yen

1274 STORM SHIELD Half-Zip Find-Out Workwear for Men, Fall/Winter, Cold Weather, 5 Colors Available, Sizes M-3L

Easy to move in, windproof, breathable, warm, soft to the touch

This is a slim silhouette with compression. The underarm area is very neat

The Storm Shield Half Zip is a model that makes the Warm Shield even more practical for field use. While it feels thin, its windproof fabric and hexagonal block fleece lining provide excellent insulation, preventing outside air from entering and providing excellent warmth. While it depends on the weather and conditions, this is sufficient for short hikes. While it's windproof, it's also reasonably breathable. You'll rarely feel stuffy, even while hiking. The compression fit is tight, but it's comfortable and allows for easy movement. It's a versatile piece. The outer fabric contains 10% polyurethane, which provides excellent elasticity. Wearing a shell over this would be ideal in rainy or extremely cold weather

The lining is made of hexagonal block fleece, which provides the perfect balance of wind resistance, breathability, and warmth

The overall compression makes it easy to move around and easy to use

1262 FINE ASSIST Short Sleeve Pocket T-Shirt (Outdoor Recommended Rating: ★★★★☆) 580 yen

1262 FINE ASSIST Men's Water-Repellent, Durable, Easy-to-Clean Short-Sleeve T-Shirt with Pockets, Year-Round Wear, Water-Repellent, Available in 3 Colors, Sizes S-3L

Easy to move in ◎ Water repellency ◎ Breathability ◯ Quick drying ◯ Soft to the touch ◎

A durable, water-repellent, and affordable T-shirt. Perfect as an inner layer

At first glance, it looks like a regular T-shirt, but it's durable and water-repellent, even after 50 washes. It's made with DIAMAGIC DIRECT (a fabric developed by Mitsubishi Corporation Fashion with high levels of durable water repellency and easy stain removal). While it might feel stiff, it actually feels quite soft when you put it on. Deodorizing yarn is woven into the sides, so if you dry it after hiking, it's still wearable (for those who don't mind). Made of 100% polyester, it dries fairly quickly. The water-repellent properties were clearly evident when I spilled coffee on it. Only a small amount soaked into the lining. Since it's a T-shirt, it's likely to easily withstand 50 washes, but it's quite practical. I think a zippered left chest pocket would be a good idea for ease of use

I headed up the mountain carrying a 35kg load. Because it dries quickly and is odor-resistant, I continued wearing it after arriving at my destination

If you spill coffee on it..

After a while, I tried playing it. The water had only soaked into the fabric a little. Please note that it is not waterproof

summary

When it comes to winter wear, keeping warm is important, but during activities where the body tends to warm up, windproof protection from the cold outside can be even more important. It's all about choosing the right one depending on the field conditions. The STORM SHIELD Half Zip I tried out this time is of a high-quality finish. It offers good wind and cold protection, as well as good breathability, making it versatile. The WARM SHIELD Powder Fleece Long Sleeve Half Zip tends to get stuffy, but it offers excellent heat retention. Depending on the field conditions, you'll likely find it useful. The FINE ASSIST Short Sleeve Pocket T-Shirt can be worn year-round, and while it's not waterproof, it does a great job of preventing direct rainwater from getting on your body, even in rainy weather. Overall, I highly recommend pairing the STORM SHIELD Half Zip with the FINE ASSIST Short Sleeve Pocket T-Shirt
