The three-layer construction, which sandwiches the membrane between a 15D knit lining, feels even better against the skin than the previous model, resulting in a lighter, softer, and more natural feel. Despite the slim silhouette, the three-dimensional cut and stretchy fabric allow for natural movement while walking, ensuring exceptional comfort. The mesh pocket lining and double front zipper allow for additional ventilation. The hood, with its fine adjustment capabilities and elasticated closure, offers a comfortable fit
Of the models we've picked out this time, this is one of the thinner models, so caution is advised when using it in extremely cold temperatures, even in the three seasons, but it is a versatile jacket that is perfect not only as rain gear, but also for keeping warm in mild weather, as a windbreaker on ridges, and even as an everyday outer layer. In their home country of the US, they seem to offer many conventional models as a comprehensive outdoor brand, but in Japan they mainly do licensing. For this reason, when it comes to items planned for Japan, we sometimes see bold designs that differ from the image they have in their home country. The latest model we're introducing this time is one of the ultra-light focused item series that the brand has been focusing on in Japan recently. Therefore, we should point out at the outset that this model is a bit unique, being "for hiking on gentle trails in the snow-free season" rather than being an all-rounder
From the front, it looks like simple GORE C-KNIT rainwear, but there are no pockets to be found. Wondering where it could be, I searched and discovered that there was a ventilation system on the side that opened all the way to the bottom. Furthermore, on the lining, there were inner pockets on both sides, which could be accessed by opening the ventilation system. The cuffs, hem, and hood adjustments were all elastic, and the hood wasn't designed for a helmet. While these features are clearly lacking for basic mountain rainwear, they are actually quite practical when considered in terms of the necessary features for comfortable long-term hiking in Japan's hot and humid climate
However, to be honest, I can't say that this is the only thing you need, so it does feel a bit off topic, but I couldn't overlook the appeal of this bold approach that is specifically tailored for hiking in the snow-free season, which is important for many people. It's definitely a piece of clothing I'd like to try out
