After all, mountain tools are thought to be expensive. Because cutting edge technology is used? Or is it a tool that entrusts your life to? Of course, each one has its own truth.
However, if that was one of the reasons why people just couldn't step into the outdoors, there would be no such sad story. In fact, that's not the case.
This idea led me to report on the "Winter Workman Special" previously, and thanks to you, I was able to read and share it by an astonishing number of users. Just as not all-purpose tools are all-purpose, there are many inexpensive tools that work well depending on how you use them. OGZ regularly pursues the highest quality outdoor gear regardless of price, but rather than hindering the chances of encountering naturally by the atmosphere where you can't enjoy the outdoors unless you use authentic tools, I would like to actively discover and introduce cheap, yet reasonably-usable items.
So, following on from the previous special feature, I would like to report on the second installment of the "Mountain Climbing Wear Special Feature" project just before the real summer mountain season!

You can get the clothes you need for spring to fall mountain climbing for less than 10,000 yen! ?
This time, we've also picked out a complete set of clothing that can be used for mountain climbing, mainly from Workman's spring/summer model lineup. This time, even if you combine basic clothing top and bottom, socks, and the essential equipment, rainwear, it's under 10,000 yen! Adding a variety of things like winter clothing will make it a little more protruding, but there is no doubt that it is less than half the price than a normal purchase at a mountain store. As always, Workman.
Now, from here on, I will mainly use it for day hiking in low mountains from June to July, and share its use below.

1. Base layer shirt
Skin smooth long sleeve half zip (recommended level ★★★★☆ 1,500 yen/Total price up to this rate of 1,500 yen)
Adequate performance and price to generously wear it over
Among the clothing worn in the mountains, the clothing that comes into contact with the skin is called the base layer. In the summer, it is generally called a T-shirt. For this, the materials are important for both 1 and 2. Cotton absorbs a lot of sweat and accumulates in the fabric, no matter how thin it is, it is difficult to dry out and can be dangerous, such as cooling the body. Cotton blended clothing feels good when it's dry, but it's something you should avoid when climbing as much as possible.
On the other hand, polyester is the one that is mainly used in this clothing. It is light, strong, and quick-drying, making it a classic material for modern mountaineering wear that actively releases sweat even when you sweat a lot. In addition, this fabric is made to make polypropylene come into contact with the skin, so it is highly sweat-absorbent and keeps it smooth even when sweating. If they could do this much for 1,500 yen, there's nothing to say.
What makes it different from high-quality models is that cutting is orthodox, so it's not exactly the perfect fit. The fineness, smoothness and high-end fabric are also inferior to those that can be produced. However, the adsorption of the smell that I was afraid of wasn't particularly bothering me, and I feel like it's more usable than I thought. It's also great that you can choose the style that suits your taste, such as short sleeves, long sleep, and zip neck.
2. Trekking pants
Air Light STRETCH Climbing Pants (Recommended Level ★★★★★ 1,900 yen / Total price up to this rate of 3,400 yen)

Excellent movement and plenty of pockets
I was suddenly surprised by the climbing pants, but the elastic fabric and the inseam gusset make it very strong, so raising and lowering your legs is not stressful at all. It feels good on the inside and dries quickly. The silhouette is from climbing pants, so the silhouette is slimmer than the usual loose ones. At first, I thought Workman was some kind of mistake to climb, but it is well researched, and it is precisely accurate to keep the points of interest. However, the price is under 2,000 yen. If you're a well-known brand, you can buy four more similar models.
The fabric is a little thick and a bit heavy, so it might be a little hot in the middle of summer. In that case, we recommend the original trekking model introduced below. This one has no inseam gusset and is not too stretchy, making it less easy to move in, but the fabric is thin and breathable and quick-drying, making it easier to use in high temperature seasons.

3. Rainwear
Breathable rain suit STRETCH (recommended level ★★★☆☆ 4,900 yen / total price up to this point)
Waterproofing and mobility at a price are sufficient
Workman has a lineup of waterproof jackets, the number of stars, but this model is the most suitable for mountain climbing. Unlike other low-priced rain gear, the silhouette is slim and active, and is also stretchy, making it more attractive for its ease of movement. The waterproofing is not high for mountain climbing purposes, but even so, a water resistance of 10,000mm is sufficient for the time being. The hood also covers the face thoroughly, allowing for some adjustments. However, the breathability is 5,000g/m2/24h, which is not as good as modern standards, and the lining also sticks when wet, so to be honest, it's hard to say it's all-weather. It must be said that this is quite uncomfortable for people who are used to wearing authentic models from mountaineering manufacturers. Also, the brim of the hood is soft, so you may be a little worried about your vision in a storm. And it's a bit heavy for a 2.5 layer, which is a bit negative. Taking these into consideration, how will you see the extraordinary amount of under 5,000 yen for the top and bottom?
Basically, this is a set of top and bottom so this is enough for now, but this year the optional pants are hot. The three-dimensional cutting improves the silhouette and ease of movement than the included pants, and also features adjustable waist and Velcro cuffs, making it significantly more comfortable.

4. Socks
Set of 2 pairs of safety shoes socks (recommended level ★★☆☆☆ 1,280 yen / total price up to this rate of 9,580 yen)
If it were more than going with 100% cotton...
When choosing socks in hot weather, there are surprisingly many things to consider, such as breathability, quick drying, and discomfort and friction when wet. In that sense, I personally believe that merino wool is the best when it comes to socks, but these socks are cost-effective, rather than just choosing the worst choice of 100% cotton. The instep is mesh-like to ensure breathability, and is made of a blend of synthetic fiber and cotton, with plenty of cushions on the toes, soles and heels, and the ankle part is also pile-like, making it less tight (but not loose). The lack of fatigue is far from a high-quality model based on scientific evidence, but key points for walking comfortably were kept in mind, and a relatively gentle range of activities was sufficient.
5. [Bonus] Cold protection jacket
Stretch soft shell jacket (recommended level ★★★★★)
Great for use in warm weather
In fact, this softshell jacket might have been the most impressive thing in this review. The fabric is made of softshell material with excellent stretch, just like the climbing pants I introduced earlier. It has a balanced balance of breathability, wind resistance, and water repellency, making it very convenient to use in the mornings and evenings of summer and on the ridgelines. It is also somewhat thick and has a carefully crafted thumb hole, making it perfect for keeping you warm. What's more, this design and colour can be found in the city, and its cost-effectiveness is incredible. Personally, I found it extremely useful even on a travelling plane.
In addition, if you want to provide minimal protection in the light outdoors in the middle of summer, the lightweight shell below is also convenient. This one piece is light windproof, rainproof, and cold-proof, making it perfect for small outdoor activities such as running and light hiking. It is packable and can be stored just like a fist, so you can rest assured that it can be hidden in your bag just in case. However, the fact that such a convenient and functional outerwear is available for this price is nothing more than a shock.

summary
Although this was the second time, I was a little prepared, but I was still surprised and confused by how cost-effective it was. It is only admiration for its skill in properly capturing the features of existing products for full-scale mountain climbing, stripping off specs that can be shave off at the minimum level that can be held back, and finishing them at as low as possible prices. To be honest, there are many things to point out, but overall, the exquisite level of perfection, which makes it quite usable, makes it seem unfair to point out anything every time. Of course, it's not to say that it's okay to do more serious and difficult activities. However, in a sense, this high product development ability is a threat to other outdoor brands.
Finally, however, as someone who runs this site, I would absolutely love to include this. Regardless of the price, "good" outdoor gear has a style, comfort, ease of use, and a sexy look that only a brand can offer, and is adorable to excite the wearer.
If you've read this article and thought, "Isn't it surprisingly good?", feel free to start with this. This will surely make you less satisfied with the tools you have now and will want to try out more of the outdoor gear that is great for you. That's all I'm sure.
It's not just cheap things, it doesn't have to be expensive. The important thing is to choose the right tool for you in the right position, depending on your purpose. Rather than cutting it off just because it's not a specialized brand, the real joy of the deep world of outdoor activities is to find various uses and try to figure out what you want in your own way. If you've been avoiding mountain tools just because they're expensive, why not try working with Workman to visit even a little bit of a trip into nature?
