NEWS: We've put up the latest tents that have been rumored! Outdoor Gear Touch&Try 2017 in Jonanjima Seaside Park Campground

Written by Yasushi Hisatomi

April is here and the outdoor season is in full swing. This year, there are a ton of events all over the country where you can enjoy outdoor activities up close, and our editorial department is receiving a lot of information every day

Recently, I came across information about an event that I couldn't help but lean into and think, "I have to go to this," so I'd like to share it with you

What is "Outdoor Gear Touch&Try"?

Simply put, it's a product exhibition and experience event for general users, but the key point is that it's an event where you can "see," "touch," and "try (for free)" in an actual field large gear like tents and tarps, and fire equipment like burners, which you don't often get a chance to try out in real life. With unlimited use of popular fire equipment and unlimited pitching of your favorite tents at a spacious, easily accessible campsite in Tokyo, readers who love gear and comparisons are sure to enjoy it

Participating brands are hot

What makes this event especially exciting is the lineup of participating brands. While there are almost no well-known domestic tent manufacturers, this year's second event has seen an increase in participating brands compared to last year, MSR, NEMO, Big Agnes, Terra nova, Ogawa, and Tenmaku Design , tent brands that are rarely found in brick-and-mortar stores. An event where you can experience all of these brands together is quite rare in Japan.

Personally, I've always wanted to see the Boreas tent, so it looks like I'll be able to touch it, so I've decided I have to go. I don't know if it's actually on display, but it's not available in most stores, so as a Boreas fan, I can't miss it.

Of course, there will be a lot of camping and outdoor equipment other than tents on display, and there will also be workshops such as "Chun Chun's PRIMUS Camp Cooking Class" held during the event, and there will apparently also be an event-exclusive shop (there was one last year) (see the Facebook page for details ). Even better, since it's a campsite, you can also have a BBQ or camp there on the day (fees apply, advance reservations required).

This event allows you to try out the latest models from niche brands that you rarely have the chance to try out, so if you're interested, why not come along?
