[Notice] Contributed to "RUN+TRAIL Vol.17 (April 2016 issue)"
I wrote about six pages of articles on the theme of "ultra-light rainwear" for "RUN+TRAIL Vol.17" published by Sanei Shobo, which will be released today (2/27)!
Earlier this year, I was introduced to an editor who agreed with the purpose of this site, and I was able to proceed steadily from there, but I have finally been able to convey this to everyone, as I approached the release date. This is the first time that Outdoor Gearzine has been exposed to other media.
The content is that this issue features outdoor (trail run) gear specials, marked "GEAR MANIAX," and among them, this site was in charge of how to choose rainwear.
WILD -1 Ask staff member Aoki Jin to choose the latest rainwear
The article is divided into two major topics, and the first half is original content for this magazine, where people go directly to Aoki (WILD-1 Tama New Town store), a "material otaku" and a staff member of an actual outdoor shop, about the latest information on rainwear selection. As expected from the time he talks with a variety of customers every day, he was able to clearly explain the points that beginners are likely to stumble when choosing rainwear. As an aside, most of the interviews are actually interesting, but as rumored, they're all nerdy and risqué! I was forced to cut it out in a slurp and crying manner. However, we would like to clearly reflect this essence to readers of this site in the future, so please look forward to it.
Comparative test: "What should you prioritize when choosing ultra-lightweight rainwear?"
The second half of the article is re-examined and revised based on familiar comparison tests on "ultra-light rainwear," a popular topic on this site, based on familiar comparison tests, in line with the theme of trail running. The bass was originally written for hiking, but since this type of rainwear is actually a perfect item for active new sports like trail running, I was told that it would be useful for trail running enthusiasts, so I decided to give it a try. Of course, this has led to new materials, interviewing several runners, actually running and retesting courses that I'm always used to walking, and with the efforts of the editors, I think this has led to a comparison report that is very useful for trail running.
I want hikers and trail runners to read it!
Basically, the main focus is on trail running, but it is packed with information that is useful for all outdoor activities, such as materials and how to care for clothing, so this issue should be enjoyed by a wide range of people.
When you think of mountain climbing and trail running, you might think of them as an incompatible orientation, but that's a shame. Although the approach to nature is different, it is the same in that it enriches life through mountains, and both are expressions that are based on nature. By actually learning about the good points of each individual, there may be times when they actually just dislike each other, at least on this site. So I would like people who only know mountain climbing to pick up this magazine and learn about trail running, and people who only know trail running can come and take a look at this site, and they can get to experience each other's worlds little by little, and think that both of them look like fun.
That's why outdoor enthusiasts across the country should definitely pick up and read it!
