Theme: "Photographing mountains. Photographing people." ~A gathering where a mountain ski photographer will teach you everything from photography equipment to tips and techniques~
"Our Favorite Hikes" is an event where OGZ, who knows the "real thing," invites "real" guests to share a fun time with everyone. In a relaxed atmosphere like a night spent relaxing in a mountain hut, you get to know the guests, their equipment, and the mountains in a deeper way, and you end up loving the outdoors just a little more...The final theme of this special event this year is finally, and for enthusiasts, the long-awaited "Mountain Camera" special feature

Nowadays, everyone carries a high-performance camera with them 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, but long before that time came, photography has been an essential part of mountain and outdoor activities. In the mountains, you can witness amazing scenery and moments that you would never see in your daily life, and of course that experience is the most precious, but if you're going out, you definitely want to capture those irreplaceable moments and their emotions and keep them so you'll never forget them
However, it is not easy to capture on camera (rather than just recording) a single moment of mountain climbing or other adventures, exactly as you see it with your eyes and feel it in your heart. Starting with the equipment and gear, the time to take the photo, the shooting method, composition, and camera settings, it takes a surprising amount of preparation and knowledge to take the perfect shot. Especially in an extreme environment like a snowy mountain, which is unimaginable in everyday life, it is difficult to take a good photo just by pressing the shutter normally
When it comes to lightweight hiking or snowy mountains or other restrictive environments, it's often difficult to bring enough equipment with you, so there are probably a ton of things you want to know, such as tips for taking satisfying photos even in such situations
A professional will teach you everything you need to know to take great photos in the mountains in all seasons
So, this time, we're holding an event where a professional will teach us the most practical and quickest ways to actually take "good photos" in the harsh field of the mountains. The person answering our questions will be Matsuoka Sachiko, a mountain ski photographer and Millet advisor who works for many magazines and advertising photography. She accompanies mountaineers who climb gorges by climbing rivers in the summer, and skiers who descend steep snow walls in the winter, taking on many difficult photo challenges every day, carrying her camera into remote areas that are not easily accessible
Profile of Shoko Matsuoka
Born in Akita Prefecture, currently living in Tokyo.
He learned Nordic skiing as a child and basic skiing as an adult, before moving on to powder snow and mountain skiing. Around that time, he met Tetsuo Kikuchi on Mt. Hakuba and began taking photographs with a single-lens reflex camera. He studied under Daisuke Miura of the Ski Alpinism Research Group and continues to take photographs of first downhill runs and Kurobe Crossings. He was in charge of the Kurobe Crossing and Tateyama routes for "Mountain Skiing 100 Mountains" (Yama to Keikokusha, 2015). Supported by MILLET.

This time too, we are accepting questions in advance
Since this is a special occasion, we would like to hear Matsuoka's specific methods at the event, and then proceed in a "problem consultation" format, where we will answer practical questions from the participants
For this reason, we are looking for questions in advance so that we can answer as many as possible smoothly. Whether you are planning to attend or not, if you have any questions you would like to ask about mountain photography, cameras, or mountain skiing, please feel free to ask them using the question form below!
There will be no live online streaming
As this will be the last offline event of the year, we had planned to have an after-party and year-end party for the event that anyone interested could easily join, but due to the setup and dismantling work at the venue, we will not be able to live stream the event online. We apologize, but this event will only be available in person, and for those who are unable to attend on the day, please enjoy the digest video that will be released at a later date
"Our Favorite Hikes" welcomes people from a variety of professions and positions involved in the outdoors in Japan, and aims to be an exciting place where you can meet fellow mountain and gear lovers and have deep interactions. No prior knowledge, let alone any skill or experience, is necessary to participate. Anyone of any age or gender is welcome, and solo hikers are also welcome. Anyone who has even a slight love for the mountains or the outdoors can have fun, so please feel free to join us! We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible!
