Shasta is a water city
Water flows from so many different places, nourishing our lives and watching over us
In the Dunsmuir area, close to Mossbrae Falls, which we introduced previously, there is a small but beautiful waterfall called Hedge Creek Falls
The Shasta area is home to many places that are revered as sacred by Native Americans who have lived here for generations and still have a connection to them today. When I visited here, Native Americans were preparing to hold a ceremony
As a place worshipped by Native Americans, it is a place where you can feel the energy of the spirits that have resided in the water and rocks that have flowed here since ancient times
It's about 10 minutes from downtown Shasta, and it's about a 5-minute walk down the hill from the parking lot to the falls, where you can also go behind the falls
You can feel the waterfall and the spray from up close
There is a small trail further in, which leads to the Sacramento River
It's just a short walk away, so you can stop by while taking a walk
Take a moment to relax along the river and listen to the murmuring of the water
The views are great, with Mount Shasta in the distance
It's a place you can come to casually when you have a little time
The amount of water varies depending on the amount of snowfall and the time of year, but be sure to take a walk to Hedge Creek Falls and enjoy a mist shower
