Recommended spots around Mount Shasta [Would you rather die without walking? A trip to America's National Parks (36) The Jewels of Mt. Shasta (Bonus Edition)]
Happy New Year everyone!
Since last year, I have been introducing sacred spots around Mount Shasta as the jewel of the mountain. I hope you enjoyed it. Shasta, like Sedona, is known as a power spot, and every time I visit, I find myself captivated by the invisible charm of Shasta
Shasta has a unique charm that can only be found in the scenery, atmosphere, colors, and smells created by nature, and it is truly wonderful to be able to be surrounded by such a natural world and feel glad that I live in America
It may be less well-known than Yosemite National Park and other famous tourist spots, but that's its charm. I feel like it's a place that only those who want to come (those who are called) can visit. If you ever have the opportunity, please come and feel Shasta's energy. Even just sitting there and feeling the Shasta breeze will detoxify your mind and body
As a bonus this time, we will introduce two recommended spots around Shasta
Shasta's #1 Recommended Spot: Railroad Park Resort (Railroad Park Resort and Dining Car Restaurant)

Address: 100 Railroad Park Rd, Dunsmuir, CA 96025
A unique spot in Dunsmuir, a town next to Shasta
This place has accommodation facilities, restaurants, a campground, souvenir shops, and more, but what makes it unique is that it's a must-see for train fans. Trains that were actually used in the past have been remodeled and used as accommodation, creating a nostalgic and charming atmosphere

In its former glory, Dunsmuir played a vital role in the railway community
Dunsmuir, just before Shasta, was formerly known as "Pusher" because it was the place where additional locomotives were added to help with the steep grades on the road to Shasta. The resort began with an effort to preserve the trains used in those days, renovating the interiors, and preserving them
Set amongst the lush forests and greenery of Dunsmuir, there are 12 cabooses, each sleeping up to five people and equipped with private bathrooms, mini-fridges and microwaves - perfect for kids who love trains

Here is the restaurant and dining area

Be sure to stop by when you visit Shasta

Shasta's Recommended Spot #2: Historic Town McCloud

Address: 409 Tucci Ave, McCloud, CA 96057
This is also a neighboring town to Shasta. It's a really rustic, small, and indescribably cute place
McLeod was once a company town for lumber companies, thriving due to its forestry industry
At its peak, the population was about 4,000, but now it's a very quiet town with a population of about 1,300. It's a quiet, rustic place that feels more like a village than a town. The old buildings and history here are also highly valued, and the town is now designated as a historic district
The McCloud Railroad (now defunct), which cooperated in the filming of Stand by Me, was also located in this town. In McCloud, there is a nostalgic place where Shasta and old railroad cars remain
As it is a private property, you enter at your own risk, but the combination of the old trains, the faint traces of the tracks, and the beautiful view of Mount Shasta is amazing

It's right next to the McCloud Fire Department

This concludes our introduction to the Mount Shasta area, the jewel of Shasta, for now. From next time, we'll be introducing some great trails in other areas of North America

Leave your hiking and travel plans for Mt. Shasta, California to us. Influenced by my father, I've always loved outdoor activities. While living in Japan, I started hiking and touring national parks, and became fascinated by the natural beauty of the United States and Canada. This ultimately led me to my dream of visiting the United States. Currently, I run ANAMI TOURS, which offers local optional tours created together with clients, such as completely private hiking tours with Japanese guides. I'm happy to introduce special options that I can only find out about because I live in the area. If you're interested, please visit the website below
