table of contents
Sea to Summit and Terra nova: a tent-camping challenge
We've held the "Tent Camping in Collaboration with a Tent Manufacturer" event twice this season and it's been a big hit. In September, we'll be taking a step up from our previous beginner-friendly plan and trying out a "Tent Camping Traverse" where you'll carry a tent along the ridgeline and cross the mountains!
Past event reports are here
The manufacturer that will be cooperating with us this time Lost Arrow which handles well-known outdoor brands such as Sea to Summit , Western Mountaineering , Osprey , and Black Diamond !
Kenko , a pioneer in lightweight tents that now offers a wide range of outdoor gear, including Terra Nova Equipment !
Both are well-established brands that develop excellent tents and sleeping gear, but for some reason they are not well-known in Japan, making it difficult to find out about their usability or reputation
This is the only event where you can experience this hidden gem of a brand in the field, with a lecture, and while enjoying mountain climbing! Please come along and participate!
Date and Time
September 20th - September 21st, 2025 (Saturday and Sunday)
↓↓If you would like to participate↓↓
*If only temporary rain is expected, the event will be held; if the weather is severe, the event will be postponed to the 26th or 27th if possible. However, it may be cancelled depending on the schedule of the members
In any case, if the event is cancelled due to weather or other reasons, we will notify you by email by 12:00 on the Friday before the event
Number of participants and recruitment quota
Entries are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis for each date. Applications will close once the maximum number of participants has been reached. If there are any cancellations, we will make an announcement accordingly
Minimum number of applicants: 2 people
Maximum number of recruits: around 8 people
Location (candidate)
*Please note that reservations are not yet available for the tent sites, so you may not be able to select one
Southern Alps (Mount Houou, etc.)
Yatsugatake (Aka-dake to Gongen-dake, etc.)
Okuchichibu (Mt. Kobushin, etc.)
The above is a current assumption, and it is possible that the route will not be as shown here. This time, we will be camping and hiking, so the start and finish will be in different locations. Since we will be carrying a tent, the technical difficulty will not be as high as before, but it will still be a somewhat physically demanding course
However, please rest assured that we plan to choose a course that will allow us to flexibly change the route depending on the members, weather, etc
We plan to hold advance online meetings with those who have registered to provide advice on the location and details, as well as advice on preparing for camping and what to bring
Matches include:
People who have done day hikes and stayed in huts up until now, but would like to try camping in a tent (but have not been able to take the plunge on their own)
People who have always wanted to carry a tent and hike up a mountain
Able to walk for 7-8 hours carrying a tent (10-15kg of luggage)
People who have been camping in tents on their own until now, but want to learn practical tips for camping in tents from experienced people, such as tips on choosing equipment, how to pitch a tent, and detailed camping know-how
People who want to try camping in a tent
As always, the details can be adjusted as desired by the members. If you would like to sleep under a tarp or in a hammock, you are free to do so (at your own risk). We will do our best to support anyone who wants to try camping in this way, so we welcome everyone who wants to take this opportunity to try camping in their own way!
Participation fee
Participation is conditional on joining the "Standard Plan" membership (1,000 yen/month)
Once you join, you can participate in any event of that month for free, so please join us!
(If you are already a member, it is free. If you are not a member, please join by the day of the event.)
Regarding the equipment you need to prepare
Basically, we would like each person to bring their own tent equipment for a two-day, one-night stay
However, this time, to make it possible for people who have not yet purchased camping equipment cooperating brands and Outdoor Gearzine will provide support so that people can participate even if they do not have camping equipment.
So, as long as you bring the bare minimum of " day hiking gear, including the gear you will wear, and food and drink, " you'll be fine. If you don't have a backpack large enough for camping, we can lend you one by the day of the hike if you let us know in advance.
Please be aware in advance
Please note that this event is not a guided tour, and participants must participate at their own risk. Outdoor Gearzine and Lotus Co., Ltd. will not be held responsible for any injuries, illnesses, or accidents that occur during the event
However, we will of course provide full support to ensure you have a safe tent camping experience, so please rest assured about that
Please enter your participation using this application form
There are still some details to be decided, but if you are interested, please apply using the entry form below! It's first come, first served, so apply early!
