Theme: We don't know anything about Vibram yet: Vibram outsole special feature

is to delve deeply into "Vibram," which everyone seems to know but doesn't really know

What is Vibram?

Vibram is a global leader in the development and manufacture of high-performance rubber soles for outdoor, leisure, workwear, fashion, orthopedic, and corrective footwear. For over 80 years, Vibram's iconic yellow octagon has been synonymous with quality, performance, safety, and innovation in the footwear industry. Headquartered in Albizate (Varese), Italy, Vibram produces more than 40 million pairs of soles each year and tests them over one million kilometers. The company operates in 120 countries and has manufacturing, research, and sales facilities in the United States, China, Japan, Brazil, and Italy

From the brand site: vibram.com

We asked the people at Vibram directly about the structure and design of the outsole, which is essential for hiking boots and running shoes, the many advancements that Vibram has made, and what the future holds for soles

From classic leather hiking boots to the latest trail running shoes, it's safe to say that Vibram outsoles are essential for today's high-performance shoes and boots. The boom in lightweight hiking boots began about 10 years ago, when this website was first launched, and I'll never forget the overwhelming grip of Vibram Megagrip at that time. The outsole is incredibly important for shoes designed for walking (or running) on uneven, slippery off-road terrain, rather than running on flat asphalt. Despite being an important tool (and an important part of it) that could even save your life, perhaps we don't know much about outsoles? So, that's what we're trying to learn about today

The speaker will be Mr. Hirano from Vibram Japan. The main topics he will be talking about are:

  • Why did Vibram start making rubber soles in the first place?
  • How are rubber soles planned, designed, tested and produced?
  • Are there any special care methods or precautions to take when handling the outsoles?
  • What evolution has the Vibram outsole undergone so far?
  • A diverse range of outsoles that match a variety of scenes, not just outdoors, but also work and fashion
  • The sole of the future, still in the prototype stage, that we don't know about yet

Vibram, the world leader in outsoles, will be speaking for a full two hours on the theme of "sole only" (perhaps a world first?). On the day, they will also be bringing in a simple testing facility where you can experience the performance of Vibram Megagrip, so even those who have never tried it before will be able to see the difference at a glance, so please look forward to that as well

As always, the first half will be a talk show with the guest, and the second half will be a relaxed, free chat. Oh, there will also be novelty giveaways on the day. We will let you know the details as soon as they are decided
