This is a great item that I recommend this year. The "MSR Low-down Remote Stove Adapter" instantly creates a lightweight, small gas stove that can be used as a group cooking style.
Stoic "solo-friendly" wind burners and pocket rocket 2 instantly create a "group cooking" style
The MSR Windburner Personal Stove System is an outdoor cooking system that "boils water quickly, is highly efficient, low fuel consumption, and compact," and is also resistant to strong winds and low temperatures. " A minimalist stove system suitable for those who enjoy the outdoors in harsh fields. However, since it was intended for use by two people in the first place, the only purpose was to boil water, it was impossible to say that a wind burner would be a disadvantage for complex cooking such as simmering and baking, or for group mountain hiking, which is used by a large group.
This part, the "MSR Low-down Remote Stove Adapter," makes it possible to do this "naturally not possible."
This part was released in the 2022 season by MSR , which has supported adventurers around the world with more functional, safer and more reliable tools, and is windburners and pocket rocket 2 from cartridge-directly connected (type in which the stove and cartridge are connected vertically) to separate (type in which the stove and cartridge are separated and connected by hose). This time, we will be using these groundbreaking parts that were "not likely to exist" along with the useful medium- and large pots that were released in the mountains, and we will go into a deeper review of the good and interesting parts.

Main features of MSR Low-down Remote Stove Adapter
" MSR Low-down Remote Stove Adapter " is an adapter that allows you to convert a stove from a direct cartridge-connected type to a separate type by connecting it between the stove and the cartridge. Although it is highly strong and corrosion resistant, it is lightweight and compact at 180g, palm-sized. The wide, stable foundation and low positioning make it more stable, and the heat can be adjusted more at hand, making it even more safe. This allows you to cook luxurious dishes that will be thoroughly cooked, large pots and pans for group mountain hiking, for example windburner , for example, to use ultra-lightweight compact stoves such as pocket rockets 2 , or specializing in water heaters (tall) such as windburner stoves.
This is amazing
- You can add greater stability and convenience to existing stoves without purchasing new large stoves.
- Simple settings allow for outstanding stability and easy heat control
- (When combined with a wind burner) adds stability and convenience without compromising high thermal efficiency.
- (In combination with Pocket Rocket 2) It is lightweight and compact compared to existing separate gas stoves.
- Compact when folded
I'm curious about this
- The adjustment procedure for the stove and cartridge side adjusters when ignition is complicated and easy to make mistakes at the beginning.
- If you use a pot or skillet with an excessively wide bottom, the firepower range of Pocket Rocket 2 is too narrow and it is difficult to turn the fire.
I actually tried using the MSR low-down remote stove adapter
Basic usage of a low-down remote stove adapter
In addition to the remote adapter, we borrowed this time from the manufacturer. I used it in my garden in front of my house and in the tent climbing in the Northern Alps (Okuhotakadake), and tried out various cooking options.
First, let's take a quick look at the basic instructions.
[1] Spread the legs, make sure the adjuster on the cartridge side is firmly in the off position, then place it on the cartridge and stove.
[2] Make sure the adjuster on the stove side is in the off position and set it on the base.
[3] With the adjuster on the stove side closed, open the adjuster on the cartridge side fully. *Smell it to make sure there are no gas leaks.
During your first operation, you tend to casually operate the stove side adjuster fully open and then use the cartridge side adjuster to ignite it, but this is a mistake . The correct ignition method is the opposite, and when ignition, always use the adjuster on the stove side to ignite it with the adjuster on the cartridge side fully open . In fact, I accidentally didn't use the correct procedure and sometimes the gas didn't come out properly.
This is the only thing that's complicated, but it was a blind spot that could be done surprisingly well, so I wished it was a little easier to understand (or rather, it was difficult to make a mistake).
[4] Open the adjuster on the stove side and ignite it.
[5] Once the light is on, open the adjuster on the stove side fully, then press the adjuster on the cartridge side to adjust the heat power. I feel like it's a bit annoying that you have to open the stove all the way here too.
[6] After use, close the adjuster on the cartridge side, and when the fire goes out, close the adjuster on the stove side, and when the stove has cooled, remove the stove and cartridge and tidy it down.
A new way to "support minimalist and group mountain climbing styles on one machine" without wasting your stove.
What's new about this adapter is that it simply adds practical value to existing tools, such as "they were able to convert existing small gas stoves into stable, separated stoves with a lower center of gravity without wasting them." This is a unique idea that no manufacturer has ever come up with, but when you realize it like this, it's a simple and effective solution that makes you wonder why it's never been before. This may be the kind of thing that can be achieved in any world, as it is innovative evolution.
When combined with a windburner, it's absolutely not great
The best way to benefit from this innovative feature is when combined with a windburner.
This integrated stove system comes with a foldable plastic stand that increases the stability of the cartridge as standard, but it is said that even if there is a stand it is likely to fall over due to gusts of wind or when full water is boiling. This ruins the appeal of being "highly efficient and wind-resistant."
That's where this adapter comes in. In addition to the sturdy foundation, which is 22cm wide, the stove height and center of gravity significantly increase stability. Until now, I was feeling a little worried about my hands holding the handle while boiling water, but this makes me feel safe and relaxed.
The stand is from poor plastic to rigid stainless steel. Furthermore, the overall width is about 5cm wider (photo below).
Comparing the height when the adapter was attached, the overall height was about 5cm lower, and the stability was outstandingly improved when combined with the robust foundation (photo below).
The case in the photo is for isopro 110 size cartridges, and for 227 size cartridges, the height difference is about 7cm with or without an adapter, making it even more noticeable.
Furthermore, this improved stability opens the way for cooking large pots and pans in high efficiency systems (a skillet and large pots dedicated to the windburner system are required).
All of them are equipped with a ring (heat exchanger) on the back to set it on the wind burner. Basically, it plays a role in fixing the wind burner and maximizing (adjusting) the thermal efficiency, but from the perspective of the user, this allows for even more stable cooking, as the pot is always placed in the center without shifting. In reality, you may be worried about whether the pot is in the center of the stove, and when cooking on ground that just can't be leveled, you should always be careful not to slip off, but this is a great relief.
This time we used three size pots and skillets. In both cases, the heat can be adjusted without reaching under the pot or removing the pot, making it very comfortable to adjust. I felt like I was able to concentrate on cooking, slowly adjusting the heat to finely adjust the heat without any stress.
The inside of the 2.5L pot and skillet are non-stick processed, so it won't burn, and even if it gets dirty, you can quickly wipe it off with kitchen paper, making it easy to clean up.
The handle can be folded and stored, and can be attached and detached, making it convenient for both storage and maintenance.
Incidentally, the 2.5L pot and skillet heat exchanger have been adjusted to a simple specification to prevent the center from overheating. 4.5L is basically a heat exchanger, perhaps because it is often boiled in soups and stews, making it a solid heat exchanger, maximizing heat efficiency.
By the way, when I filled a large 4.5L pot with about 4L of water and set it up, it wobbled a bit strangely. No matter how stable it is, be careful when the capacity is just close to the maximum to avoid exceeding a safe load.
From fast and light minimalist styles to group hiking in luxury cuisine, you can customize your pot to suit your trip and always have the perfect cooking system (and all have the right windproof and efficiency!).

Combine it with "Pocket Rocket 2" to create a lightweight and flexible cooking set
Another great thing about this adapter is that it is not just for windburners, but can also be connected to Pocket Rocket 2. This model, which is a very lightweight and compact model, can now be transformed into a more stable, separate stove for group climbing.
In this case, the pot does not need to be a special item, and various pots can be used, including the original MSR pot, making it more versatile than when combined with a wind burner. However, of course, there is a limit to the strength of the stand, so the pot is moderate in size.

Another hidden benefit. When the cartridge is released, it is easy to prevent the heat loss in winter.
One thing to remember is that it is easier to take measures to cover the drop in heat power caused by insufficient pressure inside the cartridge at low temperatures such as winter.
Under low temperatures, if the stove is burned, the cartridge temperature will drop steadily, and the heat power will decrease accordingly. To prevent this, it is common to use a commercially available booster or to submerge the cartridge in a low-water bowl, but boosters are less effective and the bowl requires placing the pot, stove and cartridges, making it difficult to stabilize, making it difficult to say it is very realistic.
However, the adapter will move the cartridge away from the stove, making it easier to do it all at once. Instead of putting the entire stove/pot system in the water bath, keep the cartridge a little soaked in a shallow bowl (for example, the attached bowl with a windburner) to prevent the cartridge from dropping temperature in cold regions and maintain a constant heat.
This allows you to always get enough heat even in cold seasons, and even without fuel remaining inside, allowing you to use it all up and reduce waste.
* Be careful not to tilt or turn the cartridge upside down while burning the stove. This stove is not a type that can be turned upside down (liquid-out type), so in the worst case, gas will spew out as liquid, causing a large flame to rise, making it dangerous.
Summary: With this, you can freely choose the ultra-lightweight fast and light style, or enjoy mountain hiking with large groups.
When climbing, it is common for the tent site to be not properly leveled, such as on sloped or uneven ground. I'm sure there are many people who have cooked in such a place and experienced irreparable mischief. Those who find the stove valve too close to fire to be troublesome, or those who have had too little use of the high-efficiency stove system they own will definitely benefit from low-down remote stove adapter As I used it, I began to love its portability and ease of use. Once you have handed it and tried it out, you will see the amazingness of this divine part, which allows you to make cooking stress-free and comfortable and safe. You'll probably be unable to let go of it as a must-have for your future trip.
