I understand the feelings. I was also someone from that side at first. However, after I first started using this site, I discovered some excellent trekking pants, which changed my mind. It's only natural to think about it now, but in reality, trekking pants are one of the essential items for comfortable and safe climbing. Teravia allows you to fully experience the power of these trekking pants .

Main features of the Patagonia "Teravia Pants" series (Teravia Trail Pants, Teravia Peak Pants, Teravia Alpine Pants)
The Patagonia Teravia Pants series are lightweight trekking pants that provide the ease of movement and comfort required for outdoor activities. We offer a supple fabric with a wide range of motion in the lower body and a lean silhouette, with skillful three-dimensional cutting of the crotch and knees, and moderate elasticity in four directions. The slim silhouette with minimal flapping provides an exquisite fit without any extra stress even with large movements. The lineup includes three types of models that match a variety of seasons and purposes, including mountain climbing in warm seasons, technical alpine trekking and harsh thru-hiking.
The Teravia Trail Pants (Photo above) is the thinnest, lighter trekking pants with outstanding breathability of the three models. The smooth texture and refreshing fabric quickly spreads sweat even during hiking during hot and humid seasons in Japan, keeping you dry all day long.
Meanwhile, the Teravia Peak Pants (photo above) uses a midweight recycled nylon softshell fabric with excellent durability and wind resistance, combining toughness and comfort that can withstand harsh long-distance thru-hiking, including long-term traversing in a wide range of seasons, including rocky areas, alpine and off-trails.
The Teravia Alpine Pants (Photo above) is a model designed to be easy to use when climbing. The bold three-dimensional cutting and stretchiness make the design less stressful even when moving dynamically during climbing. Other designs include panels on the inside of the legs that protect against friction and wear, making it perfect for a fulfilling day with the outer rocks.
Teravia Pants offers performance and functionality to ensure you have a comfortable, active day in the field with minimal risk , providing multi-purpose support for outdoor adventures. Each lineup includes two types: regular and short.

Detailed review
I'm sure there are many different opinions about what Patagonia's outdoor wear is, but for me, no matter what I put it, it all comes down to its "good balance on a higher level." It's, for example, appearance. It's not mountains, it's very natural in a good way. The colour is also good-looking. Next is the comfort. Just because it's for mountains, it never forces people to be patient because of its feel, fit, and ease of movement. Natural and comfortable to wear. And finally a performance. We do not neglect research and development, are not swayed by trends, and are always pursuing stronger, lighter, safer and more comfortable, so you can use it in the harsh mountains with peace of mind. Not many brands have all of this.
To put it simply, I realized that the " Teravia Pants " series I will be discussing this time is an item that better embodies the charm of Patagonia, the "good balance" that I think is what I think of, and when I tested it from low mountain hiking in April on middle to alpine trekking before the rainy season.
Fit and comfort: The surprising feel and fit makes you feel, and you'll be captivated by the comfort you feel the moment you put it on.
All models have silhouettes that are neither too thick nor too thin, but not too tapered, and are slim straight, with a natural, clean look that makes the lower body lines look beautiful, with no sign of fluttering and no sign of crampedness. The rise is not too deep and the elegant silhouette is not related to unsophistication, making it very popular.

From left to right are the trail, peak, and alpine. Overall, the silhouette is moderately slim, but it doesn't feel cramped at all.
Of course, this slimness doesn't limit movement at all. As I wrote at the beginning, the best appeal of these Teravia pants is their high mobility that does not interfere with the movement of the lower body, making them smooth, as if they weren't wearing them. I tried wearing Teravia Alpine pants at a press exhibition
The secret lies in the main fabric that stretches in four directions, with a generous blend of 14% recycled polyurethane (8-9%). Naturally, it has excellent stretchability, so the fabric follows the joint movement without any discomfort.
Furthermore, the three-dimensional cutting that takes into account the movements of the lower body is still in good condition. Whether you bend your knees tightly or squat down with bending and stretching exercises, the lack of resistance and discomfort on your body is exceptional.
The knees are decorated with three-dimensional darts and the gusset at the crotch are as if to be expected of Patagonia, who once the Gi pants and the M10 , and even when you lift your thighs to the fullest, you can see that they don't feel a stunning look. Despite its simple appearance at first glance, the elaborate patterns that provide excellent ease of movement are excellent. It combines ease of movement with a natural look.

There are many situations where you can lift your feet to the fullest on rocky areas, but the detailed three-dimensional cutting and excellent stretchiness make it extremely smooth to lift your feet.
All three models share a common sense in that they are easy to move in, but if we were to stand out among them, it would be Alpine > Trail > Peak.
The Alpine was the best in terms of ease of movement in terms of the three-dimensional cutting cutting and the elasticity of the fabric. However, it is safe to say that there is almost no difference from the trail, and in contrast, the peak is a sturdy fabric, so I feel that there is a difference compared to the other two models.
Also, (especially with Trail Alpine's thin and highly breathable fabrics), the lining that touches the skin is smooth and has a smooth, dry feel that is super comfortable. In the summer, when you bend your knees a lot, the sweaty fabric gets stuck on your skin, making it extremely unpleasant and stressful, but even in such cases there is no unnecessary tension.
It's obvious that trekking pants are easy to move in, but the more dangerous rocky or steep the slope, the more you will appreciate them. Even in situations where you are nervous, you don't feel any difficulty lifting your legs or feel a bit stiff. It's simple, but very important, to be able to concentrate on your moves no matter what the situation is.

The ease of movement of trekking pants is very important, as they allow you to concentrate on your movements even on steep slopes where you need to be patient.
Durability: Model optimized for sufficient volume
Patagonia knows that the sturdy and durability required for mountain activities should never be neglected. To confirm this, the Teravia Pants series has been optimized and optimized to a level that is appropriate for the activities expected in each model. A good balance between lightness, comfort and durability. This is also the appeal of this model.
For example, Alpine, which is intended to be worn on rocky or alpine areas, does not want to compromise mobility and breathability, has the minimum necessary mapping of thin softshell fabric with improved wind resistance and abrasion resistance on the buttocks, thighs, and hem.

The use of "Alpine" fabric is made with thin softshell fabric from the thighs to the knees and inside the shins.

Softshell fabric is also applied around the buttocks, covering abrasion resistance, windproof, stretchy and breathable.
On the other hand, while still ensuring technical terrain such as rocky areas and alpine mountains, the "Peak" is designed to be climbing in the seasons and distances, and not only increases the overall thickness of the fabric, but also uses recycled nylon instead of polyester, making it a more durable choice. Furthermore, the combination of a more stretchy dobby fabric on the front and buttocks, and a durable double-woven soft shell provides a balanced protection, ease of movement, windproof and breathability. Of course, the sewing is perfect.

"Peak" combines a highly stretchy fabric from the thighs to the front of the shins and around the buttocks, and a double-woven softshell fabric that emphasizes durability.
Functionality: Practical and abundant pockets, convenient waist, hem circumference!
Following style and comfort, we pursue a high standard of functionality, and we have taken great care to the usability of each activity down to the smallest detail.
Practical pockets everywhere

From left to right are the trail, peak, and alpine. All models have plenty of pockets for both number and ease of use.
The three models have zippered hand pockets on the left and right front, and zippered pockets on the right thigh. For serious outdoor use, it is generally a zipper to prevent the items inside from falling off while you are on the move. Furthermore, the Peak and Trail have two zipper pockets on the back, and one alpine pocket on the right, making it unlikely to feel any inconvenience caused by the storage surface.
Hems that fit your climbing boots and climbing methods

From left to right are the trail, peak, and alpine. The hem is also designed to be suitable for each activity.
The hem is also finely crafted. The trail is designed to be used in various hiking boots, from low to high-cut, and has a gusset with a zipper. The "Peak" is designed for hard movement and high-cut boots, and the "Peak" has a hook at the front hem that hooks the shoelaces, and the velcro on the side tightens between the boots and ankles, acting like a simple gaitor. The Alpine has drawcords to increase clearance at your feet while climbing, increasing safety, mobility and good silhouette.
Waist area designed for comfort and ease of adjustment

From left to right are the trail, peak, and alpine. The design is meaningful and has been designed with simple trails, high-fixing peaks, and integrated, non-busy alpine.
Regarding the waist area, the "trail" is made of simple elastic and belt loops. On the other hand, the other two models, which have the use of harnesses in mind, come with a standard belt, and the Peak can be used with the firm, firm belt that comes with the standard, or you can remove it and use your own belt. The final "Alpine" is further designed to use a harness, and is made into a belt that is integrated with the pants to minimize bulk.

When viewed from the front and back, it looks like a waist with no stretch, but elastic is firmly attached to both sides, providing moderate stretch.
Personally, I think the trail is a "trail" that doesn't seem to have anything attached and requires a belt, but I've actually got a detailed design that is tightly elastic on both sides, making it easy to fit into the waist (photo above).
Summary: Comfort, ease of movement, durability, and a good balance with style and gaps. What kind of person and situation are the three models recommended for?
It's not just comfortable to wear, it's not just easy to move around in, it's not just that it looks good, of course. Teravia Pants combines the high performance required in harsh fields, comfort and style as clothing , and are highly complete trekking pants that are both calculated and thoughtful, from the materials to cutting and sewing to the details.
Their specialty is different for trekking on alpine mountains with many rocky ridges, such as traverses in the Alps, and for mountain climbing in spring and autumn, while 'trails' for hiking in hot and humid seasons, and 'alpines' for day trips to climbing outside rocks, scrambling, and river climbing. So if you're greedy, you'll want to use all the different types of mountains depending on the situation. This will allow you to accommodate any mountain activity throughout the year, regardless of season or use.
Finally, I have summarized the strengths and weaknesses of each model, as well as recommended situations that I felt when comparing them, so I hope this will be useful when purchasing.
