Review: Teton Bros. PPP 1/2 Zip LS Tee
table of contents
Well-balanced and perfect for summer activities as well as a base layer
Teton Bros. is a new outdoor wear manufacturer founded in Japan in 2008 by a group of friends who were fascinated by America's wilderness and who wanted to create truly superior products that would allow us to walk more closely with nature. They are also proactive in introducing new functional materials, and are particularly renowned for their outstanding products based on innovative concepts, such as their jackets, which use Polartec Neoshell from Polartec, the US company, and are the first Japanese brand to win an award
This PPP base layer also uses a new functional fabric called Polartec Power Grid, and we were amazed at how well-made it is. We thoroughly tested it in Grand Teton National Park, where the fabric is named, so we'll be reviewing it right away!

This is amazing!
High overall performance as a base layer
Avoiding overheating while preventing overcooling. The greatest strength of this garment is its ability to balance these conflicting objectives. The secret lies in the new material, Polartec Power Grid. the materials , this new material is based on Polartec Power Dry, which has excellent breathability, moisture absorption and diffusion properties, and is quick-drying. By creating a grid pattern, this new material has enhanced moisture absorption and diffusion properties while also reducing overall weight. It still maintains a minimum level of warmth within a limited weight. Simply put, while you're active, the fabric allows air to pass through and quickly wicks away sweat, so you don't get too hot. Even when you stop, the garment stays dry and comfortable, so you won't feel cold from sweat, and because it retains just the right amount of heat, you won't feel too cold (though, cool air still gets through in strong winds).
Smooth feel and comfortable fit
Another feature of this fabric is its patented "double knit structure," which uses different knitting yarns on both sides. This means that the lining is smooth, not grid-like, to quickly remove moisture from the skin, allowing for a comfortable feel and warmth . Furthermore, the patterning prevents chafing on the shoulders and the three-dimensional cut that fits snugly to the body line reduces strain on the body, making it extremely comfortable to wear.
This is not so good
Slightly longer sleeves and hem
I'm sure this varies from person to person, but I found the sleeves and hem to be a little long overall. I personally have longer-than-average arms, so even if they're long, I still think they're long. By the way, I'm wearing a size M (height 176cm)
Summary: Who is this recommended for?
This garment has excellent temperature regulation, so it's not just suitable for midsummer. In fact, a great base layer that can be used throughout the three seasons . If you want to use it more as a base layer, you can also choose the long sleeve version (without a zipper).
It's basically meant to be used as a first layer, so that it comes into direct contact with the skin, and then as the temperature drops, you can layer a windproof jacket over it, or in even colder weather, layer an insulating fleece, insulation, or down jacket between the two, so it has the perfect features for maximizing effectiveness when layering in the classic way. The silhouette and design are also nice, so I recommend it as a simple, easy-to-use piece
