[Water Purifier Experience Event Report] Journey to Purity! ~Let's go on a journey! With BeFree AC ~ [Star Shoji Presents]

In the second half of May 2025, Star Shoji (hereafter referred to as "Journey to Purity," a press event held by Star Shoji (hereafter referred to as "Journey to Purity," and while climbing a little different mountain, experience BeFree AC, a two-stage water purification portable water purifier from KATADYN, a star Shoji company whose catchphrase is "a drop of security in the event of an emergency," on-site! This wonderful event was held.

On the day of the event, we head to the meeting location from Keio Takao Yamaguchi Station.

If you go to Takao and then head north from the station and head north, your destination is decided!

Takao Base, which we have been using for past events, is the meeting place for this time and the briefing point before departure, and is already a huge hit with Star Shoji and participants.

As soon as they arrived, each attendee was handed a set for the event from Star Shoji.

Among them is KATADYN's portable water purifier, BeFree AC 0.5L!

I'm sure you can use or not use the KATADYN backpack, so I'll store it in the bottle holder of my own pack, so if I forget this, I won't be able to talk about it.

For those who are worried about the course planned to be played, there are some pretty rough aspects to the courses planned to be conducted, and we also offer rental shoes from Takao Base.

The event begins with a greeting from the representative of Star Shoji!

The course is set to approximately 4.5km, and the course is circumnavigated through each workshop.

Shimizu from AUTHENTIC JAPAN/COCOHELI also attempts to get people to try out Cocoheli. As expected, helicopters were not used, but it was an amulet in case of an emergency. What I would like to emphasize was that Cocoheli is not insurance, but is the only service in Japan that calls private helivers.

The mountain climbing part has begun!

The briefing is over and the event is beginning in earnest, making it a huge venue.

Normally... Narama, Mt. Takao, which is visible at the back of the station, is a mountain area where the main area tends to be the main area.

As an aside, I would like to see a facility scheduled to open in front of the torii gate, with a beer-scented scent.

The southeastern Takao area was the main field this time, and there were no major areas at all (bitter smile). In a way, in a sense, it was a real "back" Takao.

This is a mountain trail, just next to a private house just after entering the national highway. President Sasaki's backpacks have been available at Star Shoji in the past! This is another very rare item nowadays.

It was gentle from here until it reached the ridge, but it was almost in a straight line, and it seems that there were also people who don't usually go to the mountains, so it wasn't hard for those people at this point.

I went out to the ridge and took a break for a while.

Aside part 2: It's a water purifier event, but of course, you also carry regular water. Recently, this bottle I bought at Tochigi Kawara Kidake has been in good spirits and is very useful in everyday life.

Although it is a short section, you should not let your guard down, and there were some areas where the ground was loose due to the rain falling until the morning, so some participants were slipping, which was a bit tense.

After descending, the starting team took a break, waiting for the later runners.

In between, Aside 3, participants wearing normal shoes, which have been a hot topic recently, are in good spirits! That's what it means.

We went to Sawa part for a while and then BeFree AC!

From here, we will take a route through streams and sides for a while.

Although it is called a stream, it is calm with little water, but the seasons are gentle and the greenery is amazing.

Today's main event is now open a little further!

I'll try it out too.

It's certainly beautiful... I mean, the stream this time is originally beautiful (lol), but I think it smells unique to the salmon that it is just like that, but when I drink it, there is none at all, and it's just delicious. Even if it's not a problem with water purification, the only thing that smells like water is filtered... In the meantime, insert a cork-shaped activated carbon filter to increase the taste! A feature of BeFree AC is that it can also be done. The filtering takes about 10 seconds (!) and it takes almost instantaneously.

It can be compact when not in use, and this 0.5L model weighs approximately 72g, making it super lightweight. As I mentioned earlier, after actually filtering out the stream water, I also thought that what made me think was better, not only was that I could enjoy the cold stream water on the spot. This is a different feeling to bringing cold water with you in a water bottle or something. Above all, as long as you have a water source, you can get drinking water! That's an advantage in many ways.

All participants experience the greatness of BeFree AC, and then climb the stream.

The next workshop was at the climb... It seems that there was a demonstration of smoke-speech barrels from Hosoya Pyroko Pokkem, whom I had accompanied, but unlike before, it was a later group and was also on a tour of the Star Shoji filming (bitter smile). The final event in the event was a massive demonstration of boiling water using OPTIMUS's multi-fuel stove NOVA and a small freeze-dried tasting.

It is easy to use with a versatile stove that can be used without changing the jets, but it is characterized by its multi-purpose performance that is safe even in high and extreme areas. It is also good at boiling large amounts of water at a time when a large group of people are quickly finished with a large cooker.

The one we sampled using the hot water was freeze-dried, treated as KATADYN, and it has yet to be decided if it will be introduced in Japan.

It has an all-out parade of flavors that are not in Japan, and I think it has a very unique and national character.

After that, you should escape the mountains!

Once you've finished your light meal, you'll head down the mountain.

Common!? Difficult areas come at the very end, but the guides are watching over you, so you can rest assured.

At first glance, it may seem like a simple round, but it seems to be a course that was derived from President Sasaki's careful research and the cleverness of the course setting, along with the course being quite a bit. After all, I think the person who was the most lively person on the scene was President Sasaki himself (lol). As expected from the outside, he is just making a living.

So, it seems like it's really fun and fun to use and learn using a water purifier that I never used during my usual mountain climbing was a valuable experience. And if I could add this much to my equipment, I feel like I'll continue to take it to the mountains in the future, and in an age where it's not clear what will happen these days, it's a piece that's good to have on hand!
