[SALOMON, Takao Base and Mt. Takao] Mt.TAKAO HIKE & CLEAN UP!!
The Shibuya store has moved and opened for the shoes that are currently exploding in popularity, and the event was also hugely popular, and Salomon is still incredibly powerful.
Event Report
With this wonderful event called HIKE&CLEAN UP, where people hike Mt. Takao and do cleaning activities, I thought it would be interesting if they could experience it from the same perspective as the participants, so I visited a little.
https://salomon.jp/a/archives/events/3700
On the morning of the day, we arrived at Mt. TAKAO BASE CAMP (hereafter Takao Base).
With the concept of a mountain hut at the foot of Mount Takao, the entrance to the mountains, it is a cafe and accommodation facility, and is a multi-purpose facility that is planned and managed in various events as a place that continues to spread the lifestyle and culture of the mountains.
This time, this event is a collaboration project with Salomon, featuring the cleanup and hiking that Takao Base originally proposed and acted as one of its proposals and activities , and the mountain meal experience that everyone can enjoy from children to adults, and the importance of not bringing garbage into the mountains.
Shortly after we arrived, participants gathered one after another, and this time we have all agreed to show our faces, so we will send you the things we really are.

It was already very busy with many participants.
Normally, this is a paid item, but this time you can rent Salomon shoes for free (!).
I think most participants borrowed the money because they could experience Salomon shoes on Mt. Takao. I also received some detailed feedback on those shoes, so I'll be posting later.

We also have a lineup of rental shoes, other models, and a variety of shoes from other companies.

You can usually rent a backpack.
That's a bit off track, and there's Ogawa, who works at Full Marks, who is personally working with at the same facility and other events!? He's just returned to the public saying he's on a trip abroad. The content was incredible, and I had just climbed 6,000 and 8,000m peaks!
I was so surprised and happy to see him in a hurry and feel relieved that I was able to return safely. That's right, four events were held at the same time in the facility, making it very lively. It's about time to return to the main line.
Since it's a clean-up hike, each person is given a vividly colored bag and tongs carved into the altitude of Mt. Takao, which is the main character in the shadows.
And then we had lunch at the summit!
Mr. Kato, manager of Takao Bass, explained to me about lunch box in a Hydro Flask lunch jar This is also a proposal in line with this project to prevent waste from being produced in the mountains as much as possible, and is a concept of a circular lunch box. For more information, click here https://forearlybirds.jp/
Next to Kato's right is Itabashi, the founder of the Salomon side, and they are invited into the world of clean-up hiking at Mt. Takao.
Salomon Itabashi will hand you a lunch box and cutlery, and you can enjoy the contents until lunchtime!
All of us gave a brief introduction before we left.
Let's go out!
After leaving Takao Base, we headed towards Takao Yamaguchi Station on the Keio Line.
It was just after I left Takao Base... but it's already begun.
You can catch it right away if it's a small piece of garbage, and you won't miss your sharp eyes.
We arrived at Takao Yamaguchi Station and passed by, but... the mountains of people are so amazing, Mt. Takao is so popular!
There were a little bit of people walking on Takeshita Street in Harajuku, so in some cases it might be more than there, but during events it was also a good time when the autumn leaves began.
If you walk towards Cable Station, you'll be right next to Salomon Takaoyama store! The staff will also welcome you with a smile.
I had the chance, so I took a commemorative photo in front of the store! However, the first group quickly moved in, so only the second group was there.
This time, there were some camera experts among the participants, so we also took some photos as needed. I thought maybe I didn't need the author when it came to filming (bitter smile) and I'm grateful.
We also greeted us with the cafe next to Salomon's building, as it was related to Takao Base.
There are lots of fascinating menus and the temptation is incredible (lol) I can't help but think of the lunch box I'll have at the top of the mountain and hold it in a long way. Plus, the clean and hiking up has just begun!
We left Salomon Cafe and soon met up with the starting team, and we called out to get rolls, and we entered Mt. Takao in earnest. This time's route was proposed by Takao Bass Kato.
Kiyotaki Station (Route 6) → Biwataki Fork → Kasunadai → Otokozaka → Stupa → Yakuoin → Summit → (Route 4) → Cable Car Takaoyama Station → Konpiradai (Konpiradai course) → Ochiai!
This is a hidden gem that is not well known to the general public, as it branches from Biwa Falls on the way up Route 6 and joins Route 1 (Kasumidai), and the part from when it descends from Konpiradai to Ochiai.
That said, I have only ever climbed this area once, from the bottom of Mt. Takao to Mt. Jinba, so I'll arrive well.
First, hike and clean up Route 6!
No, if you search for this large force, the other party will catch you in a qualified position, so there's no trash left for me, who is currently a latecomer.
Also, it's hilarious that Mt. Takao, considering the large amount of people, there is an overwhelmingly low amount of garbage.
We headed towards Biwa Falls smoothly.
Be careful as Route 6 is one-way for a period and time.
We headed along the mountain path, which has become a little more difficult.
It appears that they have arrived at Biwa Falls.
This is my first time visiting, and there is something called the Biwa Falls Watering Dojo, where they do waterfall hiking. I couldn't tell you what it was like, but I could hear a voice from under the waterfall.
We leave Biwa Falls and head up.
From here until I got to the Hazedai, it was a fairly good climb and I had to look for trash, so it was a section that required a fair amount of physical strength. It was autumn, and even though it was a shining illusion that the fresh greenery was dazzling, so I put even more energy into it.
Maybe I've made about halfway through this area? That's the impression.
He says he is steadily hiking and cleaning up.
Apparently we have arrived at a peaceful and beautiful spot.
The participants were also filmed because of the great view.
I thought this time while accompanying me, the fatigue level increases as I climb normally, so it would be nice to see fatigue, but in the first place, perhaps because it's an event involving Salomon, there are many trail runners, so there's no problem with physical strength, and for some reason... Perhaps because of this act of picking up trash, everyone's expressions are getting better than they normally do on mountain hiking, which is a mysterious effect, and maybe something has been purified.
Well, I joined the major road with many tourists again, but it's amazing (lol)
If there were so many ordinary (?) tourists, it would have been a lot of garbage... but it was inversely proportional to the number of people there. It's not that much when we look at it hardly downwards.
While I was doing this, I headed to Otokozaka and Otokozaka fork.
You will move to the right halfway through.
You will pass through the gate.
This section is short, but the road is narrow so be careful.
The place we climbed was a stupa.
In front of you is a hidden gem of autumn leaves!
Takao bassist Kato said that it's a good place to be a small number of people here.
It was a little early but still pretty.
Your filming is also improving.
Once you've passed through the hidden autumn leaves spot, you'll be heading to Yakuo-in.
The fascinating Karinto is only available here! I was very curious about the pear flavor.
The autumn leaves were also nice in this area.

Backlighting is good too
After passing through Yakuoin, we proceed along the wooden path.
The final sprint of the first half!
Arrived at the summit of Mt. Takao! ...But today, everyone smiled wryly because there were so many people. Of course we are also part of that.
And it was such a nice day.
Only Mt. Fuji did not show his face, and I couldn't go.
As planned, it seemed that there would be a little space available at the summit, so participants who were well versed in Mt. Takao took us to a hidden gem just below, and we safely secured lunch space.
Now, let's open the lunch jar! What a bunch of side dishes that are so delicious! And you can see a glimpse of the chicken rice underneath, and the seasoning is exquisite and delicious! It oozes into your tired body.
When everyone silently writes in, the deliciousness of the bento is unanimously conveyed.
The leaves above my head, where I rested, are quite autumnal, so it's soothing.
I've recharged my energy and am now feeling better, and the second half of the game begins.
On the way home, we head down the slightly nerdy Route 4.
There are some narrow parts, so it's a spirit of giving in on and off the road.
Of course, it's also a pain to clean up, and I realize that the world you can see with just one consciousness can change as the garbage is surrounded by mystery and even begin with the idea. In fact, the participants also seem to be the key point.
One of the highlights of Route 4 is the suspension bridge.
And we will meet up on Route 1 again.
I'm once again surprised at how many people there are, and it's completely unbelievable.
Continue passing by the cable car lift stop.
And then we'll deviate from route 1 again
This time, the last highlight is Konpiradai. The ginkgo trees were very coloured and the scenery was great.
From there, we went down and instead returned to Route 1, we turned left towards Ochiai.
This is the most mountain trail I've ever gone, and I've started climbing! It was a moment when I thought so, but I was on the way down (bitter smile)
At this point, I think it's a route that only a few climbers pass by.
The very last part near the exit is a bit difficult, carefully proceeding between the fallen trees and the muddy trees.
Yes, the descent is complete! It's a moment of relief.
However, it was cleaned up until we reached Takao Base.
You won't miss trash until the very end, or rather, the reality is that there is more trash on this normal road section.
Yes, hike and cleanup are complete! It was a mountain hike for over 5 hours.
Finally, I'd like to ask Salomon Itabashi to hold the ball over, everyone looks great!
I've said there's little waste, but this much garbage has been collected. I dream of the day when the garbage that will be in this bag will eventually end.
Here we have received comments from Takao Bass Kato and Salomon Itabashi, so we would like to introduce them to you.
・From Mr. Kato Motoko, Manager, Manager of Mt.TAKAO BASE CAMP
The clean-up hike itself has been held once a month for several years, sponsored by Takao Base. Until now, the test shoes that Salomon has been available on Takao Base were for trail running, but since last year, hiking shoes have also been available, and there have been talks about holding a hiking event, so we proposed a cleanup project, which has been held this time.
Takao Base is a mountain hut and base camp at the foot of Mt. Takao, and conveys the "fun of the mountains," but we would like to cherish both the enjoyment and love and cherish the mountains together with the people who gather here. With this in mind, we hold clean-up hikes every month as an event with no participation fee.
Additionally, the bento for FOR EARLY BIRDS that we proposed this time is a reused bento environmental circulation project that began with the cleanup activities of Mt. Takao, and Takao Base has been involved since the beginning. We use fresh locally produced ingredients to contribute to local revitalization, and food waste can be reduced by booking in advance. While reducing the amount of garbage brought into the mountains, a portion of the sales are used to environmental conservation funds such as cleanup activities, making fun and delicious original bento boxes that eat in nature sustainably and beautifully preserve our beloved nature.
This time, I believe that by fully enjoying the beauty of nature in the wonderful autumn weather, we were able to share the desire to cherish this environment with all the participants. And if Salomon's shoes and clothing would be available to join us when we go out into nature with that kind of thought, I think this project would have been a great success too.
・From Salomon Itabashi Reika
This is the first time we held our "Mt.TAKAO HIKE & CLEAN UP" event.
The process that led to the project was to help people feel the gratitude of being able to play in the mountains through cleanup, and to make it beautiful so that they can play forever.
This is a place I personally love to play in the mountains, such as trail running and hiking.
While I was on a trail running, I was very concerned about the trash falling down while I was running.
Small trash can be taken home while running, but we cannot pick up large trash, so we wanted people who play in the mountains to be aware that they should not throw away trash.
We decided to hold the event this time, as we hope that more people will be concerned about it.
In order to hold the cleanup, we hold a cleanup of Mt. Takao once a month at Takao Base, which offers rental shoes and rental backpacks from Salomon, so we held it together.
-Thoughts after actually experiencing this
was my first time cleaning up, and while I went there, I felt that there was less trash than I expected, but "there was more trash that fell unnoticedly than the garbage I intentionally thrown away."
Many of the garbage was found to fall on unreachable slopes on the edge of the road, under benches near restaurants, and under unreachable areas.
There were also plastic bottles, but some had scraps of bags and shoes that had fallen off.
I thought that even though I thought the scraps of the bag had fallen off, I also felt that it was important to create a garbage container to prevent the trash being removed while I was on a train run.
I think the sole of the shoes that had not been worn for a while have deteriorated and have come off, but I think that the items that have been peeled off should be taken home as their own, even if they are not intentional.
This time, participants also had a "bento" to eat while they were cleaned up.
This is a reused lunch box with the concept of not bringing anything that becomes garbage into the mountains, so unlike plastic lunch boxes, it does not produce any waste.
It is important not to throw away garbage, but before that, I once again realized that I should be aware of not bringing in or not bringing it in, and be careful not only in the mountains but also in everyday life.
Many participants were new to cleanup, but through this event, we were able to hear comments that they wanted to change their awareness of garbage.
Even though we cannot change everyone's mindset, I would be happy if more people gradually become aware of it as they carry out their activities.
Both of you bleed.
And Salomon shoes supported me in this activity. Including this comment, I received the nickname Akkun on behalf of the participants.
-As someone who works as a motivator for participating in events
, I have always been interested in mountain cleanup activities, in the sense of giving back to the mountains. Furthermore, I wanted to try out Salomon shoes, which are suitable for hiking, and experience the difference between them and trail running shoes.
・Thoughts on actual participation in the event
This is my first time participating. It was a lot of fun to feel the mountains in a different way than when I was on a train run. Compared to trail running, the amount of information received is overwhelmingly large, so I have many new discoveries and realisations, such as the plants, the terrain, the views, and the people passing by, and I feel like I have learned more about the mountains and the sense of unity with the mountains.
The opportunities and amount of conversations with my friends were overwhelmingly more enjoyable than when I was running on a trail run. Training is fun, but from now on there will also be occasional hiking.
It's a good idea to make garbage bags stand out! This catches the eye of the hikers passing by. →What are those people doing? →I'm taking tongs and picking up trash! →We have to make sure we don't remove any trash either! I felt that this was also part of an easy-to-understand educational activity to reduce waste.
The bento prepared at this event was also delicious!
The chicken rice bento was packed in a returnable jar, and it was slightly warm when eaten, and it looked and tasted excellent, and it really touched my clean hike and slurp.
I would like to participate again if I have the time to repay my favor to the mountains.
・Thoughts on borrowed shoes X ULTRA 360 EDGE GORE-TEXThe
stylish design makes it look great for everyday wear. When I put my feet in, I felt a sense of unity with my feet, and when I walked, it felt stable and protected, making it easy to walk.
In fact, I've been feeling a little pain every time I walked recently, and it had worsened from the run the day before, so I was worried about walking around the mountains on the day, but when I walked in the shoes I had borrowed, the pain disappeared and I was able to walk comfortably until the end without feeling any pain. It had a firm grip even in the muddy areas at the end, so I was able to get down with peace of mind. I think this is a recommended pair for hiking. I like it.
I was very satisfied with the content and it seemed like it was a fulfilling day.
What did you think, this is the HIKE&CLEAN UP event featuring a collaboration between Takao Base and Salomon.
It's fine to climb a mountain, but if you change your mindset a little, the world you see will change, and if there is a beautiful Satoyama waiting for you, this activity has absolutely meaning, and if it reaches the people who are looking at that world side-by-side, it will even change the streets of Takao. I don't know if that will happen one day, but I feel like I was able to help you. And I think this small step is very well understood that there was a surprising amount of trash in the mountains of Mt. Takao, which I walked this time.
