Shirataka Hill Trail Kick-off Event 2025 will be held again this year!

Enjoy spring by walking along the fresh trails that opened in Yamagata in 2023

A kick-off event will be held again this year for the Shirataka Hill Trail, a new trail that was developed in his hometown of Yamagata Prefecture by Saito Masashi, a triple crowner who has completed three major long trails in the United States and Japan's first professional hiker.

The Shirataka Hill Trail is a 31km round trip that has been developed with mountain trails such as the main peak, Mt. Shirataka, and is connected to nature walks and forest trails. This is a unique opportunity to take over the wishes of the late Kato Noriyoshi, a leading expert on Japanese long trails, author and backpacker, and connect the paths, connected the regions and people with the strong desire to "have authentic North American trail culture in Japan," and to walk with friends, camping, and get to experience the latest gear at booths of various manufacturers and brands.

This year, many people, from beginners or experienced hiking, can enjoy it, including half-day hiking, one-day hiking, and through hiking, and this time, it was a rare opportunity for professional hiker Saito to take charge of through hiking for two days.

The exhibition booth will feature exhibition booth corners unique to YLT, including a Big Agnes tent display and the "yamadapacks" booth, and the kick-off party will be filled with events where you can win a luxurious prize.

I have been to this event twice in the past, and the rich trails that mix nature and culture, as well as the hiking experience, and the atmosphere of the event, where everyone is always welcoming, regardless of age or gender, is the best. If you're interested, why not take part in it?
