Written by Yasushi Hisatomi

Only 5 days left until Outdoor Gearzine's first real-world event, "Outdoor Gearzine Trailhead"!

With last-minute adjustments made, an event that outdoor gear fans will love has come to fruition!

Update 6. "Packing Course 2016" by Yusuke Arai to be held!

The long-awaited project that everyone has been waiting for has finally come to fruition!

outdoor_knife_manual"Outdoor Knife Manual," which was previously introduced on this site, and a mountain photographer well-versed in a wide range of outdoor techniques, from traditional mountaineering to UL (ultralight) hiking, hunting, bushcraft, and more, will be cooperating with us on this event!

Speaking of Arai, Keikokusha's Ultralight Hiker magazine as an example of UL hiking during the snowy season among a host of other experts. Naturally, he is also extremely particular about his outdoor gear.

This time , Arai will talk about what kind of equipment he packs and how he packs it when heading out into the field, standing in front of the actual gear, in an event that allows you to experience the latest in packing (what's that?). He will talk extensively about packing techniques, from regular day hikes to camping in tents and UL hikes, as much as time allows!

In addition to the packing class, the event will also feature sales and a signing session for Arai's latest book. If you purchase a copy of the book at the venue, it will also help support Outdoor Gearzine, so please do so!

Arai Yusuke's profile

He has extensive knowledge of a wide range of fields, from traditional trekking to ultra-low-voltage hiking, skiing, MTB, hunting, survival techniques, and outdoor gear, and is also well-versed in knives. Every autumn and winter, he retreats to the mountains to hunt, and is also a bushcrafter who butchers and cooks the animals in the mountains
