The Hyper 140 Shell Jacket (hereafter Hyper 140) uses a three-layer Hydroshell® Elite Pro (40g/m²) and the Hyper 100 Shell Jacket (hereafter Hyper 100) uses a three-layer Hydroshell® Elite Pro (47g/m²). The Hyper 140 seems to have a slightly lighter specific gravity of the fabric, but when I compared the front and back of the fabric, there was no difference in its touch.

The Hyper 140's fabric is lighter, but the actual weight is 150g (8g storage bag), which is just under 60g more than the Hyper 100. The reasons include changing the cutting pattern, adding pockets, changing the zipper, and improving durability.

The Hyper 100 is a completely waterproof jacket that is under 100g both official and actual measured values, and is ultra-lightweight yet comfortable to wear. The weight has increased by about 50g, and is no longer of an extremely lightweight oriented approach, and the impact of this has been eliminated, but its major weakness has been eliminated to some extent, and the functionality of pockets and other items has also been improved, making it even more complete.
Impressions from actually using it
So from here on, it's actually an impression of Hyper 140.
It has excellent performance as a rain jacket, and when it was used normally, it was not flooded even when the rain was heavy. If you continue to place a strong shower on the front zipper, it will soak slightly, but since this is not natural, there is no need to worry about flooding caused by rain. It also has a DWR (durable water repellent) finish, so it also lasts for a long time. It is water repellent for a long time, so it also maintains breathability. However, since the fabric is thin, I'm worried about the friction between the backpack and the backpack. In this review, I can't say for sure because it hasn't been used that much, but since it is a lightweight fabric, the risks should be taken into consideration.
Both waterproof and water-repellent, and have sufficient performance as a rain jacket. Water repellent lasts relatively long.
Of course, it is also windproof, so it is fine even in strong winds. However, the fabric itself is very thin, so if it gets exposed to cold wind or rain it prevents the wind and rain itself, but the temperature itself feels directly. It also has little heat retention, so when using in late autumn or winter, a thick base layer or a thin mid layer is essential.
It also has good breathability. The actual specs say it is 60,000g/m²/24h, but I couldn't really see the high numbers. Breathability was not kept up to during the climbing section where the temperature was slightly higher and the intensity of exercise was increased. However, there were no problems if we actively encouraged ventilation, such as opening the pockets and opening the front zipper. In a cool climate, there is no need to worry about stuffiness inside.
The fitting is generally slim fit, but it's a bit more relaxed than the Hyper 100. The torso is slightly longer and the arms are cut with a cutting pattern that makes it easier to move around. There is a gusset in particular on the arms, so even movements of the arms such as lifting them do not feel cramped.
The fitting of the hood cannot be adjusted, but the cutting has been improved from the Hyper 100, making it even more fitting and mobility. There are thin flaps on the brim, but it's tough to prevent rain from happening. If the rain is heavy, it would be best to put a cap or sun visor under the hood as it will be a good idea to wear it. The elastic shirring is provided except for the brim, so the fitting is perfect for the face and is in good condition. Thanks to this elastic, it can be attached and detached even if the front zip is raised to the top.
The cutting pattern of the hood has also been significantly changed, providing a better fit and greater mobility.
The cuffs are elastic shirred on the palm side, and the back side is flap, making them easy to put on and take off, making them less likely to allow wind and rain to enter. Especially when it's raining, this flap will get wet and stick to the back of your hand, making it even less likely to penetrate. The waist part has flaps on the front, while the other parts have rubber shirred, improving the fit, windproof and rain resistance at the same time. It's simple, but it's a very practical structure.
No changes to the sleeves have been made. However, it already has sufficient performance, does not allow wind and rain to enter, and the fit is good.
The pockets are waterproof thanks to the waterproof zipper. Although it is actually waterproof from the outside, the inside of the pocket is mesh, so if you sweat a lot and get sweaty, it will get damp. No matter how waterproof it is, it's best to stop directly adding paper maps and other maps. However, thanks to the mesh design of the pocket, if you leave the zipper open, you can also get the ventilation effect. The mesh pocket is sewn horizontally on the inside, making it difficult to shake even when putting in some heavy objects.
The pocket itself is mesh-based, so the entrance is water-proof, but if the inside is extremely packed, the contents will be damp...The pockets are sewn into the fabric, so there is little shaking.
I'm still concerned about the thickness of the fabric. Both the Hyper 100 and Hyper 140 are very thin, and if you hook them onto branches or rub them hard with rocks, you can feel sad. The Hyper 140 has improved overall durability due to changes in structure and specifications, but the thin fabric is a major drawback. In situations where the plant is thick and vegetation is surrounded, I feel hesitant to use it. It would be a hit if it caught on a thorn...it's likely to choose the occasion.

However, for those who are not so concerned about weight, the Hyper 140 is easy to use and versatile.
There are many jackets of equal weight, but rain jackets have waterproof zippered front pockets and are completely waterproof, making this weight still classed as ultra-lightweight. This is a very versatile jacket, from using it like a trail runner's windbreaker and rain jacket to a fast packer's emergency shell. However, the low durability of this fabric is something to be considered.
