[11/01 Azumayama Additional Edition] [OGZ's Yamato Town Exploration Report Vol. 02] Gunma Kiryu Edition - Mt. Azuma and the Mountain Stole! "PRIRET" & "Azuma Kitchen" Kitchen at Mt. Azuma

[Added on 11/2024 →]

Last time, I really enjoyed the outdoor style convenience store Tanaka Shoten.

Once we went from the store to the pre-open Tanaka Shoten Campsite (tentative) which we rented out for today's accommodation.

Everything is being developed by yourself! So, the slope has finally been leveled out and it has now become flat. This is a very difficult task, and it takes time to do so as it takes time to run the store.

It is scheduled to officially open by the end of the year, so wait patiently!

The weather was still good at the time, but that's what we've learned from the episode.

Since this time we are private, we will be using the hexalite of Neemo, which is usually not used at all, by ourselves. It's quite huge and basically I can't easily find it on campsites wherever I go.

Although it's huge, it's easy to set up even by yourself... but it's difficult to dry it later (lol)

We use this as a base camp and head to our next destination, Plylett.

It's about 20 minutes to drive from Tanaka Shoten.

Just around the corner of Kiryu, Azuma Mountain and Kiryu are located at the knees of Oka Amusement Park, where Plylet Azuma Kitchen is the Azuma Base.

I have visited Kiryu quite a few times, but I am embarrassed to say that this place is not an excellent place, and I have never known it before.

So why did you know Plylett? This is also a strange connection, so I headed to Azumino to investigate new stores a while ago, and when I first visited Trek Vogel, an outdoor shop that I have now set up this year, a pop-up shop by Plylett was being opened.

This visit was made possible because of how we became friends here and purchased the mountain stall. It's interesting.

What if the article has a good reputation? There may also be an Azumino version in the future.

I was attracted to Airstream and passed by the showroom and headed to Azuma Kitchen first (lol)

This size is quite nice, with a strange and cosmic feel to its body.

When representative Kamikubo noticed this, he immediately took us to the showroom.

It's wonderful that the grounds are stylish and have no gaps in space.

The showroom has a chic black style and a calm atmosphere.

Jinbei is believed to have been made using the same method as mountain stoles.

Plylet style select items are also available for sale.

One of them is that I personally have been using my favorite brand, yoka.

Yoka products are said to be made to order.

This Plylet main product is the mountain stole/mountain stole!

Let's have Kamikubo talk about what this is like.

・An explanation of Kamikubo

A stole woven in double layers on a rare shuttle loom.

It is made entirely of natural fibers, mainly silk and cotton.

Silk functions (all season materials) - UV absorption - Odor prevention effect - Quick drying - Heat retention This is a task that only skilled craftsmen can do, as thin fabrics with the traditional Kiryu weaving (futsu waidoori) are dyed in different colors.

Although it is a stole, it can be used like a tenugui and is extremely easy to use.

It's light and feels good on the skin, so you can easily wrap it around your neck anytime, whether in winter or summer.

It has a double-layered structure called "futsuyu" in Kiryu City, so if you wrap it around the neck from the ring, you can

Can also be used as a neck gaiter.

In other words, this is not the latest machine, but a special item that can only be achieved because of the existence of a valuable shuttle loom that existed long ago and passed down to Kiryu.

That's Plylet's mountain stole!

In terms of functionality, as mentioned above, it is UV protection, deodorizing, quick drying, and warm in summer and winter. He is a versatile player, such as being stylishly used in the city or in the mountains. It's a ring-shaped player, so it can be used as a hairband.

If you want to know more, check out the official website.

If you can roughly separate mountain stoles, they come in short and long sizes.

There are various variations of products that are basically made from silk and cotton blends and linen, and each has its own unique characteristics.

Another feature is that you can seamlessly connect two patterns without any weave (!) and you can enjoy two beautiful patterns and colors.

However, after worrying about my concerns when I was buying, I can find it a little difficult to explain to others (bitter laugh).

Here we will also hear the etymology of the word plylet, which is interesting, and the story of Mt. Azuma, which towers in front of you.

・Another explanation by Kamikubo

PRIRET is a coined word that combines Private and Secret. The name was named with the meaning of "secretly creating what we want."

This is an outdoor stole brand that makes mountain stoles/mountain stoles for outdoor use that can be used for mountain climbing, hiking, camping, etc., taking advantage of the high-quality texture of natural fibers and high functionality.

And Mt. Azuma

It is 481m above sea level and is low, so you can enjoy it all year round. If you're a Kiryu citizen, you've probably climbed it at least once.

There is also a parking lot, and it takes about a 15-minute walk from Kiryu Station to reach Azuma Park, the climbing entrance. It is close to the city, and you can enjoy the mountains and Kiryu towns in half a day.

In winter, the air is clear, so you can see a little bit of the head of the Skytree and Mt. Fuji, and sometimes there are days when a sea of clouds appears.

It's a mountain that's perfect for training, so some people have come back and forth several times.

Some people make 19 round trips in one day.

Every day, genders and young people climb, and kindergarteners also climb on field trips.

People with good legs can also head for Mt. Narukami, further deeper.

Many people climb before work every morning, and some do the mountain climbing every morning.

Gunma is truly Mt. Azuma, Kiryu, indeed, loved by locals.

Now, after being explained everything, we headed to Azuma Kitchen, which we had just flew over.

It's right next to the showroom.

Homemade rice balls are on top of the kitchen counter!

It was past lunch and I was hungry so it was just right, thank you.

To sum up, Azuma Base is a store like this.

-A base camp-like shop on Mt. Azuma, located at the foot of Mt. Azuma.

-The site features a direct store of Yamastoll and Azuma Kitchen.

- On weekends, rice balls are also sold at Azuma Kitchen.

-The large roof allows you to enjoy hot summer and rainy days.

- Event days are available in the kitchen, night beer gardens are held, etc.

So I bought two types of rice balls and filled my hunger.

I'm also curious about gelato, so I'll try it next time!

As I was chatting in the kitchen, information about Kiryu Street began to pop up.

On the day of the interview, various events are held in the city on the first Saturday of every month, so if you hear about this, you have to check it out for yourself!

Next time, we'll be sharing a fun and stroll around Kiryu. People who usually go to the mountains around Kiryu but in the city... the more you're like, Kiryu has this kind of side to you!

I hope you will feel this way, as Kiryu's journey has only just begun.

Added 1/11/2024

In Gunma, I went to Mt. Kiryu and Azuma, and climbed to the summit with a light guide from Plylett in my knees, so I would like you to take a look at the details.

In the morning we arrived at Plylet/Azuma Base, where we met.

The weather was not good here, but it was nice as if to blow it away.

Now we headed out for Mt. Kamikubo and Mt. Azuma.

First, we entered Azumayama Park, the entrance, but...there were a lot of parking, which you wouldn't expect on a weekday morning!

It's not like everything is all, but I have a feeling that many people will head to the mountains from here.

There is a vending machine at the entrance, so you can purchase water just before entering the mountain.

Continue towards Mt. Azuma.

There is a path that takes a little further down the paved road in the park and then goes to the right, where you can see the hikers.

We are also following the hiker.

We've gone, we've entered the mountain from here! I thought so, but it's not the same as walking around the park, says Kamikubo-san (lol)

It seems that Mt. Azuma can be used as a starting point to go in many different directions.

The impression that autumn leaves have only just begun in this area, so it's just now.

There are many rocks or mountains in this area, but this area is relatively flat, so it's easy to walk around.

Finally!? We have arrived at the trailhead at Mt. Azuma.

As you can see, there are rocky areas and the mountain trails are also a lot of rock, so I think it's better to wear strong shoes on it. Of course, if you are used to walking, it's said that it's fine to wear it on a regular basis, but each person should consult with you.

The bulletin board contains information on events that will be held at Mt. Azuma, etc.

It seems that an event will be held at Azuma Base soon!

Now enter the mountain! Welcome to the rock stairs.

If you go a little further, you will get a choice between Onnazaka and Otokozaka. Since it was my first time, Kamikubo said on the easy Onnazaka.

That being said, this one is also rough rocks.

If you continue, you will see Tombi Rock.

It seems to be a little below the middle floor, but you can see a great view from here as well. There are also some things that I feel satisfied and turn back here.

He encountered a legend on Tombi Rock, and was 88 years old!! And he climbed Mt. Azuma over 4,500 times (!)

He is an incredible person who has walked through many mountains. I was given a clear consent for publishing this time.

I hope you will continue to enjoy mountain climbing at your own pace, in a good way.

I'm going to break up with the legend who I've had so many wonderful stories.

Basically, it's a climb that's usually common in low mountains, so it takes up a fair amount of physical strength.

As mentioned earlier, first, this time it's the second slope. Of course!? Onnazaka (lol)

Be careful as there are some areas that can be dangerous if you lose your balance.

This is the last climb up to the ridge, and I'm holding on to it.

I came out on the ridgeline of Mt. Azuma, and Mr. Kamikubo manages his pace thoroughly, so this one is easy.

Then take a little walk along the ridge.

It's the summit of Mt. Azuma! It has arrived.

A wonderful scenery is waiting for you as a reward.

There are many handmade benches on the summit, making it easy to take a break.

During my break, I've been using this water bottle a lot lately. I also liked the fact that the Azuma Base sticker was perfectly attached to the cap.

This view! The streets of Kiryu are stunning, and if they are clear, you can also see the Skytree in the distance.

At an altitude of 481m, it is by no means a high mountain and it doesn't take long to reach the summit, but as a mountain, I thought it was a mountain filled with the charm of mountain climbing.

Now that's the first time, I'll go back with a quick piston.

You can go back quickly on the descent, so be careful about your feet.

Just a little more.

Yes, we descended the mountain safely and returned. It was a compact climb of about an hour and 40 minutes, and one day I felt like I wanted to spend a day moving further from Mt. Azuma to see it.

Would you like to take a break? So I took a lot of empathy to my words and relaxed at Azuma Kitchen.

When I think of Azuma Kitchen, I personally think of it as a rice ball, but there are plenty of desserts too.

There is also a fascinating word called Kamikochi's natural ice.

You're so close.

I had a special coffee brew, the best!

And that cup is unexpectedly Nodate! Thank you for your continued support at the Nagano Matsumoto Alps Summit the day before.

For some information on plylets, there was a water bottle with a plylet logo that is perfect for carbonation.

Kiryu will also be holding an event rush over this long weekend (2024.11-4). There will be some kind of event happening almost throughout the city, and there are so many highlights!

After having had coffee, we left Azuma Kitchen and Tanaka Shoten also greeted us.

Tanaka Shoten is also full of fascinating items, including Light Heart Gear, which you'll only see here in Japan. If you're interested, check out the previous Tanaka Shoten edition and the first part of the Alps Summit.

So I was able to climb Mt. Azuma with the long-awaited Plylet Kamikubo.

As Kubo said, it was so lively that it was hard to believe it was a weekday, and if you were in the other mountains, it would be weekends! I was surprised to see that there were so many mountain enthusiasts, and I think that everyone is more friendly than usual mountain hiking, and that it develops from greetings to conversations.

I realized that it is very loved by locals, and I would like to conclude my post on the addition, as I would like to introduce Mt. Azuma, which is a great mountain, so I would like to close the page.
