What is the NESTOUT open-year wearable speaker "SPEAKER-1"?

In addition to the SPEAKER-1 main unit, it comes with a drawstring bag for storage, a carabiner, and a USB cord for charging.
Open ear type headphones from NESTOUT, an outdoor series from ELECOM
Computer lovers don't need to explain anything, but ELECOM is a major computer peripheral manufacturer headquartered in Chuo-ku, Osaka. Founded in 1986, it is a long-established computer peripherals with a history of nearly 40 years. It is said that ELECOM's brand specializing in outdoor activities is NESTOUT. I knew they were selling mobile batteries and solar panels for outdoor use, but the SPEAKER-1 we've introduced this time is an open-ear wearable speaker with Bluetooth connection for outdoor use.
Because it is an open ear type, it does not block your ears and does not hurt your ears even after long periods of use, and it is said that you can enjoy music and other things with natural sounds and conversations from friends. It also has dust and waterproof design that is resistant to rain and dirt, and has IP54 equivalent performance, allowing it to run for a long time, and if it is fully charged, it can be played continuously for up to approximately 15 hours with a single charge. Even if the battery is empty, it can be played continuously for approximately 3 hours with a 15-minute charge.
The sound quality is also apparently thanks to the 16.2mm diameter dynamic driver and bass reflex structure, which are easy to lose in open ear types, and it also gives a rich expression of the bass range. Of course, it also has a microphone so you can enjoy phone calls and online calls.
The operating system is also for outdoor use, so it uses large physical buttons that can be used to operate it without any gloves. Sensor-type buttons reduce the incorrect operation that is common.
In addition to these functions, it is equipped with SILENT/LIVE mode. This is a feature that allows you to enjoy music and other things together with the main "SPEAKER-1" and several other "SPEAKER-1". Unfortunately, this time I was unable to try the SPEAKER-1 alone, so I was unable to try it, but I found it to be a very attractive feature for enjoying outdoor activities, camping, mountain climbing, etc. with a large group.
The SPEAKER-1 Bluetooth open-ear wearable speaker with tough outdoor features is priced around 14,800 yen. In addition to the sand beige tested this time, the available colors are available in four colors: black, olive, and gray. It measures approximately 100mm wide x 140mm deep x 52mm high, and weighs approximately 40g. We have tried this usability in a variety of situations, such as outdoor shooting, running and business trips to the city, so we will share the results with you.

Detailed review
I wanted headphones that let me hear the sounds around me!

The structure is like glasses and the vine connected to the speaker is hung over the base of the ears, so I'm happy that it won't hurt your ears even after long periods of use.
In modern society, I think many people use earphones and headphones every day. In most cases, it is used to enjoy videos and music on public transport such as trains and buses. Therefore, it is common to use a sealed type that takes into consideration sound leakage, whether it is earphones or headphones.
However, as I write manuscripts at home, take photos, walk around the forests and forests alone in the outdoor field, photograph wildlife by relying on birds' calls, and running around my home every day, I have been searching for earphones and headphones that don't block my ears, which can even hear the exact opposite sounds around me.
If many people work alone at home, they'll think it's best to just make the sound out of the speakers. However, even when I work at home, I move around surprisingly often, writing manuscripts in front of my computer, taking short photos in between doing research, running the washing machine, washing dishes, and putting up coffee to change my mood. This often leads to a loss of sound from the speaker somewhere, and in the end I would often end up wandering around in my home with my earphones in my pocket. If these earphones are sealed, they will not be able to hear the chimes of courier services, so we considered neck speakers and bone conduction type earphones.
The neck speaker was said to be quite good for use indoors such as at home, and the ears didn't hurt even after long periods of use and the sound around it could be heard, but it was not possible to use it outdoors or when running, so it was dropped from the candidate. When it comes to bone conduction-type earphones, I heard from an acquaintance who used them that they had the sound muffled after all, and I couldn't take it.
At that time, I happened to be looking for another computer peripheral and came across ELECOM's "SPEAKER-1." Since it is an open ear type, there is a problem with sound leakage, but the ear hook structure is the same as glasses, so the ears do not hurt even after long-term use. Since it is an outdoor NESTOUT brand, it is IP54-class waterproof and dustproof, and can play continuously for up to 15 hours, so I decided to give it a try.
For now, I tried running with "SPEAKER-1."

The operation part of the "SPEAKER-1" is concentrated on the right hand side. When you hold it over your ear, there are buttons such as volume controls on the bottom, and buttons such as power and pause on the top, which are difficult to see.
I have written about it several times in my OUTDOOR GEARZINE article, and I have made my hobby running every day. Currently, we combine a jogging day where we run around 18km in two hours on snowy roads and a rest day on a medium-distance running day where we run 5km in about 25-30 minutes. In addition to these two types of outdoor running, we also use an indoor treadmill to suit the temperature and weather, so we run four different types of running patterns.
Each one has a different speed and shaking depending on the road conditions, so I tried out the SPEAKER-1 in all four running patterns, but I was surprised that the SPEAKER-1, which I had worn, didn't shake more than I expected. In fact, it sways like a bouncy when you run to a certain extent. I was thinking that, but it hardly shaking. On the other hand, the negative point I didn't expect is that when you move your neck left and right, the presence of the SPEAKER-1 behind the neck gives the impression that it's a little more intrusive. However, when running, I don't move my head very often to the left and right, so I rarely notice it.
Also, even though I live in February or March, the temperatures in Hokkaido are easy to get low, so I wear gloves when I run, but when I'm thick, I have to take off my gloves and operate them, but if I run without taking them off, you can play, pause, and adjust the volume while running. This point greatly improves the usability of the SPEAKER-1.
Regarding how to hear the sound, I often drive along National Route 36, which is quite busy in Hokkaido, but I can hear the music and sound well, and I can hear the sounds that are played by cars driving around, which has made a great contribution to ensuring safety.
On bad weather days, I usually run indoors on a treadmill, but I encountered a snowstorm while jogging for a long time. As I was running, the snow that had stuck to my glasses melted, frozen again, and my vision was lost, but the waterproof and dusty SPEAKER-1 was completely fine after about two hours of jogging in the blizzard.
I think this is a result that can be recommended to many people who run, not only by music but also by inputting information through Audible. I am very satisfied with this as well.
It is also useful for outdoor fields where you can take pictures of small birds by relying on the sounds of the chirps.

The SPEAKER-1 allows you to change the angle of the speaker that emits sound, allowing you to adjust the distance between the ears and the speaker to intuitively control the sound of your hearing.

In addition to running or jogging, if I had to consider my schedule, I would walk or run around in my neighborhood Aoba Park, looking for ezo squirrels, birds, and shore moths, holding a telephoto lens.
At this time, I was looking for a sound that relies on the sounds of small birds and the sounds that small animals sometimes make, so I couldn't use normal headphones or earphones that would make around me, so I couldn't use normal headphones or earphones that would make around me any more, so I couldn't enjoy music, etc., but since the introduction of the SPEAKER-1, I could hear the sounds around me clearly, so I'm happy that I can enjoy my daily routine shooting while inputting not only music but also audio.
Incidentally, the speaker part of the SPEAKER-1 has a structure that allows you to adjust the angle, so it is also convenient that not only adjusts the volume using the volume, but also allows you to adjust the angle and distance between the speaker part and the ear, allowing you to adjust the sound coming from the speaker and the surrounding sounds in an analog manner. You can quickly change the angle of the speaker while wearing gloves, so when you hear the bird you want, you can also use it to change the angle of the speaker so that you can hear the sound around you more clearly.
In the snowy season, Hokkaido's forests are quite uneven on days when snowy, and the roads are quite bumpy, but the SPEAKER-1 neck frame, which is made of titanium wire, fits firmly around the neck and I didn't feel any concern about it falling.
Not very suitable for airplanes or urban public transport.

It is dustproof and waterproof, and is equivalent to IP54, so the USB Type-C connector for charging is covered with a solid cover. I was relieved even in a snowstorm.
The SPEAKER-1 is extremely comfortable, whether you're jogging or outdoors. In my everyday life, it's easy to use, so I happened to take it with me on a five-night business trip heading to the metropolitan area.
Unfortunately, the first thing that happens is that on the plane that is flying, the seats are close to the engine, but the sound from the speakers is drowned out by external sounds such as engine sounds, making it hard to hear music or anything like that. Even when I turned the speaker volume up, I could hardly hear it, so I don't recommend using it when traveling by plane.
I also tried using it on buses and trains from the metropolitan area, and although I managed to hear it on a bus where the inside of the train is quiet, on trains running through the city, the station announcements, and other noises drown out, and I hardly hear the sound from the speakers. Moreover, the sound from the speakers is probably leaking around, so it may be causing trouble to nearby passengers.
Basically, open-ear earphones and headphones that are prone to sound leakage are not suitable for public transport, so the SPEAKER-1 is not just a problem, but in cities where public transport is used, it was more comfortable to use sealed earphones and headphones. We recommend that you take this into consideration and use it all together.
It's also very satisfying to use at home!

The neck frame part contains light and flexible titanium wire. It will firmly support the SPEAKER-1 in a variety of situations.
I have introduced usability for running, outdoor shooting, or business trips to the city, but I am also very pleased with how easy it is to use at home, where I spend the longest time in my daily life.
In reality, in scenes where there is a lot of linguistic thinking, such as writing manuscripts, you don't listen to music or audio, so you often use the SPEAKER-1 in scenes such as gathering information or taking small indoor filming. This open ear type allows you to hear not only music but also sounds around you, which is very comfortable because you can understand the necessary sounds that come from around you, such as the chimes that the courier sends, the washing machine end buzzer, and the strobe charge alert.
Also, in my case, my ears hurt when I wear earphones of a typical shape for a long time, but the SPEAKER-1 is structured to support the ears at the base of my ears, like glasses, and weighs only about 40g, so I don't have to worry about them even if I wear them all day long. The battery can be played continuously for 15 hours if it is fully charged, so it is not uncommon for it to be worn all day long, until you wake up in the morning and go to bed at night.
However, although I can hear the sounds around me, my family, especially my wife, are unpopular with me about them wearing them all the time. When I was originally focused on something, I couldn't hear my wife's voice and I was often scolded, but when I was wearing the SPEAKER-1 and listening to something, I heard that the frequency of missed my wife's voice has increased even more. This point requires not only convenience, but also consideration is needed to ensure a happy family life.
Summary: The SPEAKER-1 is a perfect fit for me, a country-living author.
When living in the city, it is important to use it differently with a sealed type.

By adopting a large capacity battery of 350mAh, it is said that it can achieve a maximum continuous playback time of approximately 15 hours and a maximum continuous standby time of approximately 80 hours.
The SPEAKER-1 is extremely convenient for running and jogging outdoors, running on the treadmill at a fitness club, taking pictures of animals in the outdoor fields, in the forests and forests, working from home or in everyday life. Are earphones very convenient for me, who generally don't use public transport such as planes, buses, or trains, unless they are on business trips to the metropolitan area? It can be called an open-ear wearable speaker. I seriously recommend it. My family and wife have a reputation for constant wear, but...
The key points to worry about are poor sound and sound leakage from speakers on public transport such as airplanes, buses and trains. This problem may be solved with bone conduction type earphones, but it is said that there are also problems such as muffled sound. Even if we will be verifying bone conduction type earphones soon, if the current city residents use the SPEAKER-1, it would be possible to use them more comfortably by using the same method as using the airtight type on public transport.
First of all, I really liked the outdoor open-year wearable speaker "SPEAKER-1" and when I tried it out when I was on a business trip to the city, I just found out that it wasn't suitable for use on public transport in the city. The SPEAKER-1 is perfect for use not only outdoors and outdoors, but also at home, and is highly recommended as an open-ear earphone that allows you to hear the sounds around you clearly. If you are considering earphones that allow you to hear the sounds around you, why not give it a try?
